One of our facebook page members who replaced his top has taken the manuals instructions and added some handy footnotes along the way. That PDF is available in our pages files section. https://www.facebook.com/groups/241776609949593/

Is this a sticky, and I can seem to find it. Duh, yes, computer illiterate. You should always use the kiss principle when dealing with the less fortunate. .

Hello, I’m having difficulty finding 3M window primer where I live. I have everything else that has been recommended for this job. Is the primer a MUST HAVE, or is there an alternative I can use? Any advice/guidance would be appreciated. Thanks, in advance

I believe the primer is a must. I bought it from Amazon when I did it.

Thanks so much! I spoke to someone who said that the primer was primarily to ensure the surface was clean, to ensure the adhesive would work. I was advised to use alcohol wipes. Have given it a go without the primer and will wait 24 to see what happens. If it doesn’t work, I guess I’ll be doing it all again soon 😀.

Yea, you will be doing it again. I did it twice without primer, the last time, used primer and it has held so far.

Amazon or NAPA Auto Parts

Unfortunate that you had to learn the hard way. If we were going to paint some bare wood or metal we would use some primer paint which gives the top coat something to cling to, the same goes for some glues, it needs a secure base to adhere to.
JSK said it was a must but the questioner found it easier to heed the most convenient answer, I guess many of us have done the same at some point.

I was thinking Pizzaguy, yea I know, in my case a dangerous thing. I was thinking of taking maybe 2000/3000 grit sandpaper and lightly roughing the edges where the adhesive will be applied?
it should give the 3M adhesive a better bite, possibly as good as the primer? Just a thought if I can not locate the prime.

Old problem, new question, I have all the necessary products to do the repair, am I reading the sticky correctly about putting the primer on the edge of the canvas? Or just on the edge of the glass?

My wife and I own and operate Morgan Century Farm B&B in the Endless Mountains region of Pa. We cater to car enthusiasts and recently had Joe Richardson and his wife as guests. Joe is Product Development Engineer with the Eastwood Co. I was telling him about the problem that many of us are having with the rear window and as luck would have it he had developed a kit to address this specific problem. It is Item 50007Zp and can be found at Eastwood's web site. Moreover, Joe said he would personally provide phone assistance to any member who would call him at 1-610-705-5462 extension5462. Check it out - it's called Eastwood Convertible Glass Window Rebond Kit.
Should any members wish to tour the Endless Mountains we would enjoy being your hosts. Ken & Linda Florentine Morgan Century Farm B&B 1-888-335-1583 Give us a call and we'll send a brochure.
I went to Eastwoods web site, trying finding this product or kit. Tried using the search function, using both the name, " Eastwood Convertible Glass Window Rebond Kit and the product # 50007Zp. No luck. Tried calling number, no answer?

2009 post.. not surprising.. even more recently there was a guy "going" to do a frame.. "In progress now" kinda thing.. and then the channel went dead. Ever notice how close the crease is in the canvas under the window when the rear bow raises to the tonoue flaps when all is in motion? You really don't have clearance for a support frame there.
