Help with buying a Crossfire

Yup, that is what I was trying to say... but busy watching MASH and talking to my kid while posting!
It amazes me how we coach new buyers to get a better deal and then complain that value of our cars is not going up.
Found an 07 Limited Roadster at a Michigan Buick dealer, 14000 miles, lease return, selling for 17,500. Dealer said he'd let me have it for 15,500. But then he's only giving me 9000 for my '05 Limited coupe... There's no free lunch.
$9,000 for a Limited 6 speed Coupe?
*Tempted* *Really tempted*
Someone stop me from thinking what I am thinking...
No, wait, I can't do that... what am I THINKING?????????????????????????????????

Unless it is exactly what you want I wouldn't pay it.
There are plenty of 05 verts in the $14k range with fewer or similar miles.
For an NA I would hold out for exactly what Iwant and in the $14K to $16K
For an SRT I would haggle mostly with myself and comprimise some on color or miles. Decent ones at good prices are getting harder to find. CGocifers is an excellent buy. Wish I needed one. I know I want another one. (SRT's are like sexy women. Once you have one, you want them all).
NA's are available everywhere. There would not be a better time than now. ESpecially for the convertible model.
I would travel to save $3K just about anywhere. Even Texas if I had to.

Truth is I got my best car deals out of Texas. Mostly highway miles on 'em and no salt.

It was just a sample of the good deals that are out there.

I think your dealer is a little high, given what I've seen of prices, but it all comes down to the car in question. I agree with others - if it's what you want, go for it.
right on CTYankee...if you are close to the price you are willing to pay and the car is the right car, then pull the trigger...with one exception. If you have to finance a car, then don't get yourself upside down. Like it or not these little cars we all love are depreciating. So, don't spend over the market value, unless you are paying cash and are keeping it for a long time...the original car mentioned in this thread should have dropped 1K $$$ by now since 2010's are out. I wouldn't give over 16.5 for that car, and all the problems would have to have been repaired before purchase agreement signed. Just my .02....
One final argument to give to the dealer, is: discontinued model, no support from most Chysler dealers, parts are hard to find...and depreciation unpredictable...now, I just lowered my own offer to 15.5...I suggest you do the same if it is still available, and if it is still available, that should tell you something. Good luck with your purchase, we love these cars...

There are two Crossfires in the Shreveport, LA area currently for sale: (1) A 2006 red coupe, 11xxx miles, limited, $18,995, Yokem Toyota; (2) A black 2005 limited roadster, 46xxx miles, $13.988, Morgan Pontiac. I have seen the red one going back and forth on errands. Both are on cars.com. Typically dealers will negotiate on selling prices of used cars. The Pontiac folks may be motivated to sell as they are losing their Pontiac and Saturn line.

Just noticed a 2005 roadster MT6 in the Grand Rapids MI paper for $11993. I called and it is yellow with 74k miles. With all the snow on the ground, I bet someone can get it for under $10k. Fortunately, yellow is one of the colors I do not like, but it is one of the more rare colors. In another year or two, I'll be able to pick one up cheap just as a running parts car!!
That price seems high. I bought a 2007 convertible in Feb, 2009 for $17000.oo. 12400 miles on it. I would suggest researching New & Used Cars for Sale, Auto Dealers, Car Reviews and Car Finance Advice.
Read this old posting and it made me think. That is dangerious I know but... Perhaps we should have one place to list any cars we sold or bought and the price, etc.. That would perhaps help new people and give some perspective. Besides age/year, model, mileage, condition, color I would think time of year and location would be a factor in pricing. For example, a roadsterr sold in an extreme northern state in the dead of winter should probably sell for less then one in New England in May(Spring) all else being equal. I also think that patience may be a virtue when purchasing a XF. I'll list my info to start. I also think certified, etc. may make a difference to some.
Bought January 2009, 2007 Coupe, Silver with gray two tone, 7000 miles automatic, excellent condition except for drivers seat scuff and curb rash on two wheels. Modifications -- None, Certified preowned with life time warranty on drive train. Price -- $16,000. before taxes, etc.
Bought December 2009, 2005 Roadster, Blaze Red with gray two tone interior, 15,000 miles, stick, good condition, Modifications -- None. Certified pre-owned. Price -- $15,000.
Maybe this type of information will help. What do you think?
PS I used the descriptions the Kelly Blue Book uses for condition.

Not at all a bad idea...

I paid $17 000 cdn for mine, it had 17000km, and that was in early spring, so the one you are looking at seems a bit expensive, especially considering the freezing temps of lately. BUT only you know how much you want it. They are great cars, had no problems with mine. I've put 20 000 kms on it in 10 months.

Unfortunitely Franc, I was dealing on 3 different ones in that price range. They are coming down again...they may go back up in the spring, but I doubt it. I just wanted to get one before they all dry up.
