Added my name to the list. I've noticed that line for a little while now and kept trying to see if I could figure out how it is happening. I kept forgetting to ask if anyone else has had seen this. I have also noticed during heavy rains I get water dripping on my left arm rest. I've got the bumper to bumper "for life" warranty so this will be going into the shop for these problems as well as that damn chip tape wrinkle.

You can add DC XFire 's 2005 Limited 42,9XX, saw the "wrinkle line" after reading this.

First, tell him there are at least 34 other owners from this forum that can prove him wrong
Second, then tell him to prove his BS response
Third, get in contact with a regional rep if they still have them

Updated the list.

@ Mushtalakin: It is true that it will cause stains on the top if you put down the top down while it's wet. But this will look completely different from the picture shown in the first article of this thread.

To see the complete list (61 cars) with all cars, please take a look at: Chrysler - Dodge - Jeep - Auto - Forum | Chrysler Crossfire - Forum | 2) Roadster Verdeck

If you car is affected we really appreciate if you add yourself to the list.

Thanks and regards from germany
Markus

I know about the wet top and I also know that you see this crease on a lot of roadsters that are up on Ebay or auto trader.

We have had issues in the past with this guy and he is typical of some Chrysler dealers. They don't know thing 1 about this car. No wonder they didn't sell.
Probably upset that he has to learn Italian.

Hope he never gets to sell Alphas.

Markus, I don't understand the point of this thread. If the fabric problem is indeed caused by a constructional fault wouldn't 100% of the cars have the same issue ? What's the purpose of people adding their screennames to the list ? I believe you could simply take all the members who own a roadster and put their sceennames on the list. If we think that Chrysler will somehow make this fabric issue right I believe it's very niave. If I'm not mistaken all soft top convertible cars have this issue whether they are American, German or Italian. Its one of the trade-offs one makes when buying a car with a fabric top/roof.

Good points.

For me, I will still be taking it to the dealership and telling them this is going to be a recurring claim against my bumper to bumper.

On my 2007, I have a crease, both sides, on the wrap around next to the back window. Is this what we're talking about? I can't find a fault any other place. I would expect that there would be some creasing in this area from folding....

Look at the first picture, it is towards the rear of the top. It may be too faint on your car to see it just yet.

Appreciate our colleagues in Germany bringing this to Chrysler's attention. As a counterpoint, I have 35k miles and no sign of the top crease. I do have the creases on the sides from the top being folded down. I wonder if there is a correlation between frequent use of the top and the problem? I garage mine and just leave the top down in the summer (use a car cover), and I bet I have not cycled the top more than 50 times since I bought it new in April 2005. This past summer I think I had the top up on three occasions and the rest of the time went topless.

Thanks. I don't see a fault as of yet. Probably because the first owner never put the top down that often.....

Guys,

Sorry, but I am trying to gain a perspective on the trouble area from that first pic and can't quite see it. If anyone has a different pic or explanation i would appreciate it.

Are we, by any chance, talking the wrinkles that exist on each side between the side & rear window?

Thanx,

Tired

If you look at the car from the driver's side, the crease is midway between the first rib above the rear window and the second rib and almost exactly in the middle of the these 2 ribs, on the roof top.
Hope this helps

Probably not .... these "wrinkles" are there from the normal up and down of the top. My thought about these, are they become more pronounced if the top is left down for extended periods, rather then "up" when the top is under tension in that area and the wrinkles have a chance to flatten out. Just my $.02
