Air Conditioning
The air conditioner in my 2005 roadster just stopped working about a week ago. No blower at all, no vent, no fan, nothing. Already checked fuses - all related to a/c are good. Help
Please tell me I don't have to go back to Chrysler for this!

When you turn on the A/C do you see the a/c compressor engage at all, or nothing happens.
(You shoud be able to see it move, when the clutch engages, or hear it click).
This will at least tell you if something is happening (with the compressor).
(I believe the radiator fan should engage also, when the A/C is on, but I'm sure someone will confirm).
If you have a Chysler specific warranty in effect, the Dealer may be your only option.
If it's an after market warranty, many third party A/C shops would accept them.
If you got no warranty, find a good independant A/C shop, you might be better served than going to the Dealer...

No fan at all ? could be the blower motor or it could be the blower resistor (fan controll module) due to poor design, water can get into the blower assembly through the cowl opening, and cause the electronics to fail. These cars have had a lot of problems with the fan not working, do a thread search, hope this helps you out some.
The A/C system is tied into the car's electrical system in several ways. I'd not waste my time with any shop unless I KNEW they were familiar with MB cars. I'd find an independent shop known for MB experience for this.
If the fan in the passenger compartment AND the engine fan don't start (and you've made it clear that the A/C clutch does not engage) I'd ask you if the red light on the A/C button comes on. If not, this is a controls issue and I don't see how the average auto A/C shop is going to be any help. Try following the schematics in the manual yourself and you'll see what I mean.
You need someone experienced on MB cars.

Thanks everyone. Update: the radiator fan does come on when the a/c is turned on(though there is no blower). The a/c light does come on, as does the recirculate light. I don't hear the compressor at all. It seems the concensus is I should find a MB a/c shop..and fast. It's 98 in NYC today!

If the fan is broken then the AC will not work as the unit would freeze up and get damaged. It could be just the blower resistor that's toast, $50 to $200 depending on your luck on ebay. I've seen new ones for about $150.

Willeys Auto Service...Tele ~ 516-773-3542.
Another indy MB shop in Bklyn that came recommended was:
Kraft German Auto | Mercedes Benz Repair
Kraft German Auto
1107 East 56th Street
Bklyn, NY 11234
718-451-2500
They came recommended thru the Forum, but I have yet to use their Service, so can't comment personally.
Might not hurt to call them, unless you find something better, or closer.
I still have the Chrysler pre-certified Warranty in effect, and was using that Dealer coverage, till that ran out.
Worst case, if your close to Queens, we should hook up and compare rides some day...
