I would take the SRT, simply because I would not want a convertable. I would love to have a SRT.

I bought a yellow roadster about a month ago. I also have a red coupe. Both are great but the yellow roadster gets more attention by far. I could have sold it for a profit the first week I had it. The coupe is better for trips but the roadster is a lot more fun,

Hi Buttercup ,(What we call yellow Crossfire Owners in Texas), NOW you are member of the prestigious 2fer Club, enjoy them BOTH as much as you can. I have a similar problem, I have an Alabaster Roadster and an AeroBlue SRT6, Decisions, Decisions ????

928 SRT6 Roadsters made in the world. Less than that for yellow limited roadsters I would guess. So both are rare, but the SRT6, because of its drivetrain, will bring more in the end. But, as others have stated, this isn't the car to buy if you think you want to make money down the road. Try something else.
BTW. I have seen small block Chevy conversions on the sky, and mods done on the redline, that you would never stay with...so, with this in mind, I'm always buying performance over color...

OK, well I did go ahead and I purchased the Yellow Roadster yesterday.
Whomever had it, for a six year old car, took VERY good care of it. I drove almost 200 miles to pick it up. When I test drove it, everything was stellar. No kidding here, when I was pulling out between the Service driveway and the entrance way to go home with my new ride, when I hit the 9mph mark, the Vert. button started rapidly flashing and the chime went off for several minutes until it timed out. The dealership took it over to a Chrysler dealership, and after 5 hours later, no one could figure it out. Please keep in mind, this is/was a smaller town so my guess is that they have not seen too many xf's. Now I am back in the big city life, may I ask you buffs any updated advice that maybe I can resolve before I venture into the dealership next week? I was hoping that the back trunk lip was in the incorrect position, but it appears to be fine. Any HELP would be REALLY appreciated. I read other Threads, but everything with my car seems to be in order excluding any modules, electronics, etc.

Also, this is minor, but the only interior flaw that I can find inside my car is on the stereo *****. The feel rubberish, and the silver finish has worn off to an ugly dull gray rubber finsih, do you all think that I can get replacement *****? I really think that as nice as the car is, that I should just upgrade to some sort of silvertone marine replacement unit. Any suggestions there would be absolutely valued as well. I would like to eventually get a ipod hookup, or even some kind of camera hookup, then again there is the question of best 'buy for the buck' upgraded speakers.

I guess this above has more than one question asked, huh?

Thanks again members of this forum! Again, any comments on how I can upgrade a few items and/or repair the dreaded convert top problem will/would be appreciated!!!

I have a marine unit with iPod hookup that I would highly recommend. Here is a post I made a while back.

If you decide to keep your OEM unit, pull the ***** off, clean extremely good with a degreaser, etc. Spray primer, then spray silver. Next day spray several coats of clear on them. 24 hours later, gently push back on stereo until in place. Push gently because I believe they are plastic with a rubberized coating of sorts. They will last a long time like that and match so close you won't notice. Replacement ***** will do the same thing as yours are now.

James

Sorry can't help with top issue.

Congrats on your Yellow Crossfire! That is definitely the one I would get...the beep sounds like it's related to the top..Was the top up or down? The other day, I had a beep because i had not completely shut the top piece down..it looked shut, but it was a bit ajar. I have had my car for 5 years and it makes me smile every single day!

Yes, the Yellow color is beautiful with the lines and style of the XF. Yes, the top is/was completely shut and latched. The watched and clinched at the mechanic opening it and slamming it while trying to second guess the repair work. I guess that I am too gentle with things. At one point, the top would not go down, I think where I read in one of the past threads it will time out to go down automatically, and the pressure will cease. I am sure that overall it might be a quick fix, I sure hope so!

Get a good hold on them with your fingers and they should pull straight off.

I'm sure they'll figure it out..sounds like it's got something to do with the top...trunk piece maybe? I'm sure you've checked a lot of things, but I a problem with it coming unlatched once I shut the trunk...just a thought...It will beep at you. Also the last latch on the folding top..the piece that actually folds into the back was askew for me when I got my car...If yours shuts okay without a problem then you're good...

Pics would be awesome!

Tim,
Congratulations on your New Purchase, you will definitely not regret it, You are now a member of the Permagrin club. I have had a Crossfire for about 2 1/2 years now, and have just purchased my second. I have found this has many Electronic Warnings, which I still don't fully understand, but I found that the Chimes I had were for Door/Trunk lid not being shut properly, particularly the trunk lid, which I find, almost has to be slammed shut.
You will find the culprit in time, probably just something minor, and when you do eventually find the culprit, you will kick youself for not thinking of it before. Being in Texas, may I ask you to keep your eye out on this Forum for the September "Texas Motor Speedway Crossfire Laps for Charity" in Dallas, we would love for you to join us and Talk Crossfires. Bring the Wife/Girlfreind but not both, as it is only a 2 seater, LOL
Have fun with your new ride, and take care while driving. WELCOME to our Forum. TERRYR

I haven't read the whole thread. Only problem I can think of with the roadster top, it has a switch where the divider latches in the up position. That switch could be faulty or has come loose. Just a thought. Glad you joined us. I am partial to HP, but that yellow is a rare color, you will be happy with your "Yellow Rose of Texas" I am sure....

Thank you everyone for your kind responses, even the 'Buttercup' thing. (lol) Yeah, in Texas dullies still rule. Anyway, many moons ago, I had a White Coupe and a Blue SRT roadster. I saw a Vette which I could not live without, so I traded them both in. Even though the Vette is/was nice, I still regret trading those XF's in, ESPECIALLY buying them both new. You can imagine how much $$$ I lost on that deal.

Do not let ANYONE fool the SRT owners out there, unless you have a Z6 or a ZR1, the SRT's will blow the doors off of a Vette. That is the part that I miss, I had two Jewels that I let go. The white Coupe was one of the BEST LOOKING cars that I have ever had, and I will say I have been very lucky to have many different cars (yeah, I am addicted). I dressed the white coupe up with the black nose mask, placed on Chrome grill insets which overlayed the existing slats on the factory grill, and added Chromed (plated) factory wheels. That car never had a speck of dirt on it, and you could really see it coming down the road. After I make a very few mods on the 'Buttercup', I am hoping to get the same beauty out of it. I am not quite sure about adding chrome wheels just yet. Sometimes I feel that it might overpower the soft color of the yellow and make it cheap looking (?). It seems as if the gray colored factory wheels are soft color-toned in nature matching the soft yellow tone. Jury still out with the future wheel swap though.

The thing that I need to get over is the color thing in the future. I would like to get another SRT, but I just cannot get over my disliking for the color selections. Again, as time moves forward, and because of the rarity, I might not have a choice of what color to choose from. It will be 'it is what it is' type scenario. I had a pristine blue SRT convert. Foolish me to trade it on a Vette for which they make hundreds of thousands of.

Last, I want to thank those who suggested the radio replacement modification suggestions. Reading and re-reading prior comments, I also forgot to mention that a Sat. radio is a high priority along with a USB connection. The CD is down on my priority list. Also, speakers? Anyone have any new electronic (Unit, Speaker) suggestions? I have read previous threads, but I was not sure if there is anything newer that I cannot live without out these days. Again, if there are any more suggestions out there, I am all ears.

Have a great weekend everyone!
