I'm thinking out loud here, but is it possible that all of the window issues reported directly to Chrysler were only for the 2005 model year...???

That has to be the case, or why only restrict the recall to that year (other than cost, at the expense of legal issues...).

If you have a 2006 or later and the window falls out, how could they legally have a leg to stand on with only the 2005...???

Did the process or method for the window change in later years...???

Inquiring minds would like to know...

By the way, have you also heard that Chrysler is coming out model year 2013 with a retractable hard top for the Crossfire?
Ok, so you ARE pulling our legs, aren't you?

Yeh - combine that with the lack of a TSB number and you've got to wonder. I'm thinking we've all been had.

The https://www.chrysler.com//hostb/crossbrand/owners/en/ does not come up with a recall for a 2005 roadster VIN. He is pulling our leg..

OK, non-believers.

This is not exactly a TSB, but an extended warranty offering for 2005 Chrysler Crossfires, only. When inquiring about the offer, have handy the last 8 numbers of your VIN and ask about extended warranty offer X31. For those of you that are hard of hearing, again that is:

X31
Call 1-800-247-9753 for the full 411. Offer is good for 120 months or 100,000 miles.

I just talked to Chrysler corp and was told the TSB's are sent direct to the dealers, and thay have no way to look them up. I also went to the "official" Chrysler tsb page and did not find it listed. Hopefully this is for real.

Well I just called that number and I was told that X31 was vin specific, and that my wife's 2005 Crossfire that the rear window is falling out of is not part of X31. So sounds like this is not YAHOO. We will see what develops

I just called and it doesn't apply to mine (#26284) either. The lady I spoke with made it sound like this wasn't a case of the warranty being extended but rather it was only being offered to those who had previously purchased the extended warranty.

I'd be interested in knowing the outcome.

My window started coming undone last Sun then by Thurs. half of it was unattached. I barely made it to the dealership on Friday before they close, the service writer took a picture, and said to call him on Mon.

This is after I had previously called and the service writer looked up my VIN and said that it SHOULD be covered. Fingers Crossed.

When I got there and the picture was taken, I asked if it would be repaired or replaced and he said he believed the top would be replaced but that he would have more info. for me on Mon.

...Will post further results

I'd be curious what your warranty status might be. Did you by any chance purchase an extended warranty? I'm trying to figure out why some 05's might be covered and others not.

Because when you called the number, you spoke to a lady.

LOL

But usually I get further with them than the men

The sequence of the discussion was kind of interesting. First she told me that it was VIN specific, then before asking me the VIN and giving me an answer she asked me my name and address. At that point she came to realize that I was not the original owner. Then she asked for the VIN and told me mine wasn't covered. Her exact wording "I don't see an extended warranty attached to that VIN". She did point out that the original owner had never done the radiator fan recall and that it was still open and available to me.

So, if I am understanding all this. If you aren't the original owner, you must have purchased an extended warranty, and all '05's are covered? Weird...bad work is bad work.. Of course Karmann isn't around to own up to it. So, who's top do you get? Mine is always garaged, so it hasn't happened, YET...

This is exactly the case, doc.

The offer is VIN-specific to 2005's according to the last 8 digits. It extends an extended warranty, regardless of ownership, to 120 months of 100,000 miles.

I would be interested in understanding how many adhesive failures we have had on 2004 roadsters, 2006, 07, 08 as opposed to the 2005 model. Maybe Chrysler has determined that the 2005's were a particularly bad run of vulcanizing jobs.

In any event, it is remarkable that Chrysler is coming forward.
