Chrysler to Replace '05 Convertible Tops Under TSB - YAHOO!!

It took 2 weeks because my top had to be removed and mailed to GAHH in California because they re-use the parts for the new top and mailed it back to TX. 1 year later that window fell out of the new top! But GAHH covered that under their warranty. A week and a half ago I received the letter from Chrysler telling me my top may be covered under the X31 reimbursement and I sent in my receipt online. Today I got a check in the mail from Chrysler for $2300! So HAPPY right now!
Thanks for raising awareness and starting this thread.
My back window glass started separating this Summer when we had the 100+ degree days here in CT. I was getting ready to put the SRT6 away for the winter and was going to try that 3M window weld, but saw this thread and decided to call before I did that.
Well, I called and my SRT6 is not covered by X31
I went ahead and opened a case with Chrysler and will most likely get the same form letter/response that most of you have gotten, but at least the complaint/case is on file.

So far there is no sign of seal separation.
I just do not see how Chrysler can keep this coverage contained to the southern states. I'm sure that most failure complaints have been concentrated in those states.
Keep us posted.
My thanks to all who pushed the point with Chrysler and to Chrysler for taking positive action and doing a good marketing job by their responsiveness.
Seven business days after submitting our online claim, we have received full reimbursement. Thanks all!

Thanks everyone for bringing this to our attention.
Does anyone know of a good service department in the San Antonio area?
My back glass fell almost completely out sitting in my driveway with no warning. I would like to deal with an understanding service manager as I have had no luck dealing with Chrysler directly. The details of my correspondence with them can be found below.
Thanks
I just got off the phone with Chrysler where I was told that my car was not covered under this "recall." I kept expressing that it was not a recall but a warranty extension and asked if I needed to talk to another representative. When I mentioned X31 and asked about the original destination of my car I was told it was "Confidential" information and the representative continued to refuse me the information despite my mention of the fact that it was already available to me via Title History, VIP reports etc. I don't like being denied service, but what really gets me is that Chrysler employees are being deceptive as to why.
I will be filing a complaint.

got my letter last week.i am the second owner.this is a north georgia car that was purchased in gainsville.it has been garraged its entire life and has no window problems yet.....vin 1C3AN65L85X048098 with 49000 trouble free miles.
I spoke to Chrysler yesterday and they told me my vin# was not on the list. So of course I asked how can my car not be covererd for the same problem on the same car, same year that someone elses is. She told me about the "certain States" garbage but that I should take it to the dealer to have them look at it and document the issue. Did that today. the service advisor didn't seem to hopeful or motivated to help. Ive got a case# and he was going to " do some research" and get back to me. I asked him if anyone "not on the list" has had thier top replaced. he said no without hesitation. Im pretty much waiting for the official rejection now! Has any one not on the list gotten recourse?
I'm interested in knowing the production number of the cars which received the coverage and/or fix.
That would be the last 5 digits of your VIN.
My car is production number 53033. So far no indication of separation at nearly 60k miles. First 52k miles in the Minneapolis area, now near Cape Cod, Mass. .

As posted earlier, we did get the letter. No problems as of yet, but I'm keeping a close eye on the seal.
Our Vin # is 57467, and we bought her used in MO., one of the "covered" states. Don't know if she was shipped to MO. originally or not.

update: My top has been ordered but it won't be in until the 28th...I visited the dealer 2 weeks ago and they were supposed to order it that day and it would take a week...Thats not the case, I called the dealer yesterday to follow up and the advisor informed me that they can only order a top every 14 days and one had been ordered right before I got there, which was the first top they repaired. My top is the 2nd one they ordered...My advice is to get your tops asap because if they can only order tops every 14 days, that probably means there is limited stock and it could go on back order very soon.
Today I noticed my rear glass is seriously coming loose. Is this a complete roof replacement or do they reglue the glass? About 2/3rds still has good adhesion and my cloth roof is still in great condition.
I just got my 05 Crossfire back from Earnhardt Chrysler in Gilbert, AZ. They did a beautiful job on it. In answer to above question, it looks the same as the old top as far as window seal so lets hope maybe there is an upgraded adhesive to correct the separation problem. Time will only tell.
Many thanks to Judy at Chrysler customer service. There was absolutely no cost to me and the top arrived in less than one week after they agreed to replace.
On another note. I had another problem that happened that was a similar problem I had in my Kia Sorento. When I pushed down hard (passing gear I think it is called) the car would go into some restricted power mode and could hardly hold 60 mph with the pedal to the floor.
It was in the accelerator pedal potentiometer. I would have to pull over to the side of the road, turn the ignition off, wait a few seconds and restart the car and it would reset itself.
It was quite costly to fix ($655.00) but I had purchased an extended warranty from my credit union so the cost to me was the $50 deductable. This is an independant warranty service not Chrysler and I can take the car to anyone I want that will accept the warranty.

Asa mine is out of the paint shop, I am going up to our dealership and see if mine is covered. I haven't had any problems so far, but it will be nice to know. If it isn't, then I too will be looking for the right corporate person to talk to. It is BS that all roadsters aren't covered that had this specific top installed. It is obvious the glue used wasn't right, or the problem wouldn't exist. Many roadsters are driven south for winter vacations and such, and sooner or later exposed to higher temps. BS customer service, as usual.

Since I am considering a Roadster (after the untimely demise of my Limited at the hands of a TEXTER!!), my question is: Is either Tennessee or Georgia a state included in the rear window/top re-do? Anyone know?

Here's a couple of thoughts I had regarding this issue. I bought my roadster from it's original owner in Florida in Feb 2010. They purchased it from a Florida dealer, who was closed in the downsizing. They had a 3rd party warranty on it that was not transferable because I waited too long to transfer. My bad! When I got back to Illinois, I purchased a Chrysler Max Care warranty, and because of that. my car got registered with Chrysler, as me being the new owner. I subsequently received my letter for the window issue. My guess is that if I hadn't have bought the "warranty" from Chrysler, I never would have received a letter. If I hadn't bought the "warranty", Chrysler would have sent a letter to the owner on file, and they probably would have just thrown it away.
So ... if you purchased from an individual, you are probably not in Chrysler's registry, and won't be getting a letter. that doesn't mean you're car is out of luck,, because it is Vin specific.
So check your Vin # with Chrysler.
Also .... eventho my window is secure for now, I feel confident that Chrysler will take care of this issue, even in the future. Right now I can visualize that they will experience shortages of the tops, because people are rushing in to have it done. Whether they anticipated the shortage or not, I'm sure they can get new tops as needed. If in the future, I need a top, and they are out of them, or on national back-order, I'd bet they would sub contract to a qualified convertible top fitter. Maybe I'd being a little bit too trusting about this, but that's just me......
I spoke to my dealer here in Illinois, and was told that they have had no installs up to this time, because most of the installs are taking place in the Southern states. They said that they have had inquiries from roadster owners, but so far they have done one. Just sayin .......
