Fuel Filter at Fault?
I have yet to remove and replace my fuel filter and my mileage is almost 90,000. Now I have to wonder if this is causing the car to suddenly die without restarting for several minutes or up to an hour. When it does restart I get a CHECK ENGINE light, but that goes away by the next day. I have not checked the code(s). This has happened to me two times within two weeks. Can a fuel filter going this long mess up the fuel management system and cause a shutdown?

Highly recommend you replace the filter.. the filter is flow/no flow issue even after half hour.... I realize there is/maybe "flow by" where the gas leaks enough through to start the car but you won't get far if that's the issue. Look into the Crankshaft Position Sensor. it's well known issue on these cars...
