Car stalls after a hard stop
I am a new 2005 roadster owner and I just love the car. We ( wife and I)purchased the car this spring with 33,000 miles on it and as we drive the car more we have found that the car will stall or will idle very rough after a quick stop. Is this a problem with crossfires or am I experiencing something strange. Any help toward solving the problem is welcomed. Bob
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..... my dad had a car DECADES ago with an automatic transmission that would stall if you stopped quick and it would barley idle when cold.
It was the transmission - think of it as not fully "pushing the clutch in" when the car came to a stop. I remember he'd often put it in neutral while waiting for a light, then go to "D" and press the gas as soon as it "engaged". It was an old Pontiac, I think he sold that car rather than try to get it repaired, as it had many other problems leading up to that one.
Is this what you are describing? Or is it that the engine just isn't running right?

Yes we use 91 octane and it is just like your fathers car and I have not seen any type of code. Would the code just appear or do I need to get the code to read out? Bob
Unless you live in Calif.,Hawaii, or Alaska, most good Auto Parts stores will come out and scan/read it for you. Apparently we can have a code w/o the check engine light coming on, although I haven't experienced this with the Coupe yet. In addition to checking in here with the gear heads on this Forum like you've done, checking for codes is a good starting point for troubleshooting/diagnosis. As you're hearing here, it could be a few different things.

I'm guessing the idle speed is not being maintained properly. Vacuum? TPS? Something in the throttle system?
