Default 5 or 6 SPD

I am ordering mine on Friday, Limited Convertible-Sapphire with two-toned grey interior. It is my college graduation gift to myself, but I am undecided on the auto or stick. I've been driving stick since I was in HS, but the auto drives nicer than any other auto I've driven. Any thoughts?
Also, are there any systems available (headers, et al) to make her purr just a little more without changing out the exhaust tips?

I have the auto and Love it. It works great for autocrossing too. As for adding a few more ponies.... First replace the stock air filters with K&Ns. The Upsolute ECU Chip. I want to hear and see a couple of exhaust systems before I do mine.

won't that through you out of stock class? or did the chipping already do that?

if so what kind of competition do you go up against?

I'm looking forward to it. I wish J.D. had left his magnaflow on until after the Cross-Up. I would have liked to hear his too.

Change the air filters to K&N. I noticed better breathing. Get chipped. You will really feel a power change. Go auto-stick

Since the performance and economy figures reported are so similar for both transmissions, I suggest that you choose the one that suits the driving you do. If you sit in traffic and commute, then the auto would seem to be a better choice; otherwise I believe that the manual is the better choice. I have no idea which trans will have the higher resale value, but the auto does cost more in the first place.

You can change everything after the CAT.s and stay in stock class. As for the chip.... I've asked verbally and in writting to SCCA about the Crossfire being in DS ("D" Stock) and about the chip changing my class. All of the replies I've gotten is that they have changed their (SCCA) position on performance chipping and are leaving all but chipped turbo deisels in stock class. They have told me that it's their opinion that at the relatively slow speeds of an autocross that the chip really doesn't come into play.... I think it comes into play a bunch, with the increase in mid and high end torque... But if they want to leave me in stock class I'll take it. I posted a copy of the reply I got from SCCA here (on the forum) about 6 months ago.

We compete against everything from single seat formula fords, Vettes, to VW bugs. Everyone is handicaped by class. If it has 4 wheels and can fit between the cones it can autocross. Some are just better suited for it than others. But it's really all about having fun!

Thanks for clearning that up!

I plan to do autocrossing next year from the beginning of the season and have alredy been put on the mailing list. I just got my mid year bonus and wanted to do some minor upgrades but was afraid it would put me into a modified class. I guess I better figure out which cat back I am going with and plan to ride out of town to get chipped.

drunkiq.... I feel that I would be doing you a disservice if I did't warn you........ So here's the WARNING..... Autocrossing is extremely addictive!!! One run is all it takes and you'll be an addict!!! There are no known cures for this addiction. Maybe someday AA will have a whole new meaning (Autocrossers Anonymous).
