And that it was great that Chrysler finally made a car for girls! I was polite and just said "thanks", but I know that there are probably more men than women driving the Crossfires and that could have started quite a road rage if someone else was in the car. I am wondering exactly what people are seeing when they say that it's a cute car? and why would it be for women? Is it because it's kind of small and maybe underpowered for a "Macho Man"? Could be that DC might sell more of them if they DID have a little more power.
On the same note, I'll get guys that seem to get excited about the car and ask how fast it goes. I guess people might be expecting more than it can do?? Maybe it's just the age group because it seems like, on this forum, that most of the boomers are happy with the speed, whereas the younger crowd need more.
JMHO, I LOVE the car!

RobinT,
I'll wind up doing 1K miles this week (a very abnormal driving week for me). Anyway, I am getting a lot of head turnings and complements at rest stops and toll booths.
I guess for me, it was "just one look, that's all it took" and I knew I had to have a Crossfire SRT6. I saw it on the Chrysler web site first before seeing any on the road. I was looking for a 2 seater, otherwise I would not have come across it.
Only have seen one other in my travels this week (I-68 MD/WV on Monday afternoon). About a month ago, saw one in Bethesda, MD.
I wonder how many people visit the Chrysler dealer after seeing one on the road?
BTW: I-78 PA/NJ has got to be the worst stretch of road I have covered so far. It was truly one bumpy ride.

Robin: I chose the Crossfire about 6 years or more ago when i had my Sebring and saw a picture of the Crossfire prototype on the net....from a car show or something i think. It was umber sweet, and the production model didn't disappoint at all. Besides, i love having a car that no one else has in this city (same reason i chose the Sebring back in '96 when no one had one). well, almost no one...it took me 8 months, but i finally saw another roadster (aero blue) at the airport as i dropped my sister off. i was happy, i was sad...mostly i was just tired b/c it was 6 a.m.
I knew i was getting the Roadster even before i test drove it. The test drive was more a formality than anything else. i haven't regretted it a minute. i thought i'd get killed on insurance, but i actually pay the same for my '05 Crossfire with full replacement as i did for my old '93 Explorer with only liability coverage. that really shocked me and made the purchase that much easier. My old explorer still sits in the corner of the drive b/c as i found out, you just can't haul an entire set of drums and musical equipment around in the roadster! I'll suffer through i guess.
So, the bad news...some #@$)(*&$# lady in a Camry decided that her rear bumper and my passenger side door and quarter panel should meet. suffice to say, they didn't hit it off...to the tune of $1,700 in damage (replace door/remove, repair and paint quarter panel). The insurance adjuster for the lady told the dealer that they were only going to pay to "skin" the door (ie: remove the robotic weld and replace only the outer shell and then hand weld it back.). Having none of that, i told them i'd spend every last waking minute of my day in court with them if they chose to mess with me. I'm awaiting their reply, but the adjuster seemed a little put off at my reply. Sometimes it pays to be an attorney! LOL! But the Roadster comes through the battle tested and proven. This is my thread and I am going to add an oil change story. I had my first oil change after one year. I was picking my car up and this fellow doctor says to me, "How much did you pay for this roadster?" I said, what do you think I paid? He says 70K-80K. I just got a big grin on my face. You have got to love this car to get that kind of response.
Response to Robin T., I guess. I've had a Black Limited Coupe (auto for the woman of the house -- yuck!) for a couple of months. I have some small complaints (mirror control under the right elbow, for one and dots for heat control and others to small to enumerate), but all in all, the car's exactly what I bought it for. Last car was an early PT which turned heads; now the XFire does the same. As a former Vette owner/racer, I wanted some performance. The XFire won't get off the line like a Vette, but midrange it's comparable. Handling is far superior. I will want to play with both intake and exhaust for a bit of performance and to turn some ears. If sales catch on, I expect a plethora of dealer-available modifications as happened with the PT; we'll see. As far as competitive? I've thought the XFire looked good from the beginning. When you compare it price wise, I don't think there's anything that can touch it for looks, speed (midrange) and handling. I'll be back...
Everybody be good!

I currently live in Germany, where it's common to see MB, BMW, AUDI and VOLVO. I was cruising the strip in Nierenberg and there was a brand new MB 500SLK in front of me. There were more people looking at my car then the MB, which was totally cool! You can't beat this for the price. I've had my Xfire 2 months and just had limo tint put on my car, because all the people who can't help but stare at the Xfire. To bad there isn't a Autobahn in America, where you can open her up and see what your actually dealing without the hefty cost of traffic fines.
I'm back!!! I'm back!!! I'm back!!! Well actually I never really went away; somehow, I lost the subscription for this thread and stopped receiving notifications...
BlueFire - Just wanted to say thanks for taking time to respond to my earlier posting, what an endorsement... “Just One Look”… So what’s with all the traveling, 1K in a week wow! It really looks like you’re getting the most out of your car… EXCELLENT.
CincyRedRoadste - Sorry to hear about the accident… Keep us posted. On a lighter note, it’s great to see that you’re pleased with the Crossfire. Surprisingly you’re not the only person to mention how stunned they were with low insurance costs… Very cool benefit on top of everything else…
Bornfeld1 - First let me thank you for posting this thread. The person who started it all! Out of curiosity, have you owned other Chrysler vehicles or was the Crossfire your first? I was also wondering what attracted you (Style, Performance, Price etc…).
Jay Indie - Really cool feed back…. It’s just what I’m looking for…
Germaicanbacon - I’m assuming you’ve had the pleasure of trying yours out on the real thing…. I know it has to be an awesome experience…
I’m out for the evening but will catch up with you guys tomorrow… Once again, thanks for everything.

I first saw an ad in a car magazine while sitting at the barber shop (sorry - don't remember which one). From there I went online to read all about the car (and where I discovered this site). I almost summarily dismissed the car because of the 215 HP - much less than my Mustang GT, but I did decide to try one last week, and after driving one around, there wasn't that much difference. In fact, when I was showing my daughter what it could do this afternoon I was chirping the tires in Third gear. Incidentally, my daughter is 22 and she and all her friends thought it was awesome!
If Ford wasn't wildly successful with the 05' Mustang, and I could have gotten one cheaper, I might not have even looked at the Crossfire, but I'm glad I did. It is a CLASSY car, stylish and sexy and it really turns heads wherever I go.
When I heard how few Mitsubishi Eclipses sold last year, I was amazed since it seems like there is an Eclipse ad on every ten minutes on TV. They push the heck out of it and it shows. I second the need for better dealer training. I spent an hour with the owner's manual and was telling my salesman things about the car he didn't know!!!
All in all a great value - where else can I get a German engineered sports convertible for so little money.

Good choice! Our daughter's 23 and she still wants a mustang gt, since Mom already has a xf. That's fine. I love my roadster!
Congratulations and Happy motoring!
Similar experiences happen to me all the time. The latest was at the weekend when we visited the local Mercedes dealership. Parked up outside the showroom, got out the car to view their stock and as we were walking up to the cars this salesman comes out of the showroom and shouts across, "do you mind if I look at you car because I've never seen one". What a surprise, and we thought he came out to sell us a mercedes!
DECEMBER 2003 BLAZE RED CROSSFIRE WITH AUTOSTICK. OWNER FOR 3 MONTHS. LOVE IT!!!

I had my XFIREX serviced in a Mercedes dealership to have my H&R cup kit installed and I was very much impressed how they treated me and my XFIREX...as if it was a Mercedes car!

if you had a Lotoy they'd wonder if you were just retarded!
Do you mean an automatic touchless carwash? Or one of those quarter washes? I would never take a car through any automatic carwash. I always hand wash my roadster and would never go through an automatic touchless carwash because even when I wash the car myself, it leaks a little between the drivers side window and the roof. I'd be afraid that all the uncontrolled pressure washers would make it leak worse. The car is small, doesn't take much to wash it by hand, especially if you have a dozen coats of polish on it! Dirt and bugs just slide off it.
I've never owned a Chrysler product. Loved the car as soon as it came out. Reminds me of my favorite car growing up, the Barracuda.
Heard a rag-top was on the way. Bought one. Black Limited. Spend a lot of time explaining over and over to MB owners how most of the car is MB. I've had a few blank stares when I say, "MB/Chrysler. Get it?"
Lots of pointing. Kids going out of their way to chase me down on their bike to scream, "NICE CAR!" My favorite is at a stop light when a mini van full of kids pulls up behind me. Throw up the spoiler and watch.
"Mommy, did you see that?"
"What the...?"
An optional or aftermarket hardtop would be nice. That and a Hemi not named SRT-6 which is way overpriced. For 50k, I could get a stock Vette with a bell and maybe a whistle.
Love this car.
