Hi! New member here. I just purchased a 2005 Roadster and am having some problems. First seems to be a common problem with the battery drain. The battery and the charging system is fine but the battery goes dead in about two days if not driven. I did the test unhooking the battery and connecting a tester between the negative terminal and the cable. I have about a low 60's draw somewhere. Pulled all the fuses in the compartment near the battery, but nothing changed. The real reason I am posting is the hood support (lift-o-mat). When I bought the car it was in the trunk. I am unsure how it attaches. The lower end is simple. Just the normal ball. I don't see how the top fastens. The hood has a pin sticking out and I can see how a "C" type clip would keep it in place. The end of the support has a button that says "press", but I must be missing a piece to connect the two. Can one of you gurus tell or show me what I need to get it hooked up? It will make the trouble shooting on the drain much easier. Thanks in advance for any and all help! I really love this car!!

And as to the battery drain, it's the fuses in the box on the drivers side that you need to pull one at a time, not the few in the black box by the battery.

Full vertical with the "right" assembly... cars towards the end of these..

 

Whenever I raise the hood and it will be left raised for a while I always raise it to the vertical position. I think that takes the strain of the internals of the cylinder and helps it last longer.
I maybe right or wrong but it cannot do any harm.

 

I might be getting closer to the battery drain problem. The radio fuse eliminates the excess amps. I have temporarily removed the fuse to see if that helps. I did put a CD in the slot and it got stuck. I'm guessing it continually tries to either load or eject it causing the drain. Now I need to figure out how to get the disc out.....

Want some more advice ?
Junk the OEM radio and get something more modern with USB/MP3 and BlueTooth.
( Hint : look at the Marine radios, many are silver and almost match )

Managed to remove the disc and the battery drain has disappeared! Now I am waiting for some parts to arrive Wednesday to be able to fasten the hood support to the hood. Once again.... Many thanks!!

People in Walmart Car Center (or whatever they call themselves) broke the original one while changing the battery!!!! I pushed them to check the cameras etc and they accepted to pay for the part and labor +refunded the money for the battery (normally about $100).
I went to Chrysler dealer and got a quote which was almost $400! for the strut and labor(lol)
got the money from Walmart and now I am about to order one of these.
I am pretty happy at the moment lol.
