The rear window and top have been replaced on my Roadster under Comprehensive Coverage due to the rear window falling out ... I turned in the receipts today to my Insurance agent ... due to the shop I wanted doing the work was not on their "Preferred Provider" list I paid the bill and turned in the receipts for a refund ... I'll let you know how long that takes ... either way the top needed replaced in order to fix the rear window ... I'm very pleased with the replacement and the work my shop did
UPDATE ... filed claim with Insurance Agent Sept 21. have received a call from main office asking for any photos of rear window with damage (falling out) ... dummy me did not think about taking photos, that won't happen again ... this has slowed down the process a little while service providers are contacted to confirm condition of rear window ... make a note - ALWAYS TAKE PHOTOS
UPDATE #2 ... today received a call from my Insurance Company stating they WILL cover my rear window/top replacement 100% under Comprehensive Coverage ... I should be getting a check before long ... I do believe this would have been quicker if I had taken photos of the window falling out.
FINAL UPDATE ... Insurance Check arrived in the mail today for the full amount of replacing the top/rear window ... everything was covered under Comprehensive ... Success!!!

Great news !!!
Would you mind sharing the amount of this claim with us ??
I have been with State Farm for over 30 years and never have been denied any claim or had a rate increase as a result of any claim
I hope one day they will take care of me as your Insurance has taken care of you
Thanks for letting all of us here know.....it likely will help others to see this
My Insurance Company is State Farm ... total amount of top/rear window and labor was $2401.50 ... job was done in one day
WOW!!! Just think, the cost of the top through that place that supplied the replacement top group buy, subtracted from that total fee, means labor is OMG..... Sure hope you got a slam-dunk warranty for that job...

I'm sure his top was much more than the $700 group buy prices offered by BAS in the UK
Also probably lifetime warranty on the top and labor if it's like the shop that one day will do mine here

Curious, have you priced your top replacement at your local place, yet? Yes I figured his top quoted was much higher than the UK supplier (being their single top price was a few hundred higher than the @ 700 in the group buy). I wonder the impact of a $2400 repair to a vehicle (especially a Crossfire) by an insurance company, may affect its value down the road to the point where totaling it would be lower $ amount given this claimed payout (unless a special or replacement policy was purchased, which I didn't see if State Farm was mentioned as having those). Yes, I understand it is what they charged and was paid, just surprising how much of a price it was (given what the top could have been procured if another group buy was available). Personally, I wonder if they would have installed one of the group buy tops, and what the labor would have been. I have no personal interest in a roadster top given I have a coupe, just insatiable curiosity and the fact that that price seemed high.
Break down of the total price ... $1400 for the top ... $850 labor ... $101.50 Sales Tax ... Lifetime Warranty
the purist among you may not like the upgrade to the rear window but it should last a long time ... something other than glass for the top to bond to ... besides I'm happy with the results

Stitched in glass it appears
That is the best ya can get !!!

My local family owned shop would install a top I provide from the UK but will not provide a warranty for the top of course but also will not warranty installation
Sort of like me bringing the eggs for breakfast and asking them to cook them....they might not taste good but its not their fault unless they provide the eggs

Bob McCubbin and Zachary did mine in 90 minutes in a condo parking lot. You got horribly ripped off, and passed that on to your insurance company.
I've heard of people paying $1800-1900 but not way over $2000.
I do agree you got a HELL of a good top, from what I see in the photo, but $2400? No, that's just not right.
Not trying to justify the price, just providing information ... I took mine to an upholstery shop, best in my area ... this shop also does correct interiors and tops for Cords, - Auburn's -and Duesenberg's ... he is very good and stands behind his work
Can we get a detailed photos of the corners of the OEM like the one above and the one from the UK so we can see what they look like and compare.
Just a tip, I would stop mentioning insurance covering this any, more loose lips sink ships.
Horribly ripped off. I don't think so. A premiere shop in an urban area can get 150-200 dollars an hour. How many posts are there of tops not working after getting them back from repair shops. DeKalb's is working and he is happy.
Dekalb, What company made the top? Can you post more pictures? I like the idea of the stitched window. If or probably when my window fails I think I will go with the stitched window.
