Ditto at his repair! At less than about 1/3rd the cost of a replacement, it IS a good deal. Especially since it is tested before return to you. I am sure if a problem develops with a repaired RCM, support is most likely available (especially here in the forum). Whatever you choose, Good Luck!

I picked up a used RCM for about $45 12 to 14 years ago, prices have gone up since. I soldered the weak spots and put it in my trunk just in case it was needed. I had a NA at the time.
A couple of years ago I had cause to buy a used BCM, I did not need it as it turned out so it went on the shelf.
One day I thought I should make sure they worked so I exchanged them for the originals, they both worked fine so I left them in and put the originals in the trunk and on the shelf respectively. My point being that you make sure that the spare RCM is working properly.
In the trunk I have the RCM, and new Crank and Camshaft PS’s as you never know when you’ll need them.
As far as I know the CPS’s are original, at least they have been in the car for the nearly eleven years that I have had the car. I see no point in replacing these items while they are still working.

Time for me start stocking up on spares for under the hood items. I have spares for climate control, rear lights, blower motor and resistor, etc. Sounds smart to keep "necessary to run" spares in the trunk. I'll start getting for all 3 XFs, though I'll soon have one spare RCM after it's repaired. Thanks for sharing.

Is there any sort of cooling provided to the box the RCM is in? After driving around today I checked the box and it was hot in there. I disconnected the RCM and the pins burned my fingers they were so hot.

Yes there is a small fan that takes air from the passenger footwell to the large box, maybe the fan is busted or ……?

After investigation I find the blower is working, at least with the key in position 2. I don't know why the RCM is getting so damn hot. Maybe it's normal? One pin on the RCM looked slightly discolored, slightly darker than the rest, as if from being hot. As I said, the pins burned my fingers.

Maybe the Relays are going bad. Have you had it rebuilt by DJ?

No. The previous one that went bad that was the original subject of this thread I've sent to DJ. This is another RCM from my other XF I swapped it with. It was in the XF the bad one that I sent to DJ came from.
