Default A happy customer from BAS Convertible tops

Hi everyone!

Take this as a testimonial for BAS - the England based company who provided possibly thousands of replacement convertible tops to members.
I purchased a Roadster last year by a member from Colorado, who never drove the car in the winter, 25,000 on it new top from BAS. He had bought the top in 2017 as part of a group buy but as his original top still heals up he stored BAS top. When they moved to Florida - years later he installed the BAS top last March. The car and the top looked beautiful and I went for it. Nearly a year later the window started showing signs of separation at the seam. Nothing bad, no leaks or anything but you could tell it would get worse with time in the Florida heat. And once it did get a little "deeper" into the glued window In contacted BAS.
Disclaimer: of all my time on the forum I have not heard of any BAS windows separating and we have a lot of members in the south.

I can say this - the warranty from the previous owner did not carry over to me (figured so) but Becca, the owner of the business was happy to work with me and make this right. She did NOT have to and could have pointed me to the full priced top.
I not only found that very nice, I think customer service like that nowadays can be quite rare - a company that actually stands behind their product.

Long story short, just receive my top. It looks beautiful and a very nice forum member will help me install.
Becca thinks the top won't detach again and that it could have been a manufacturing defect as these things happen when you make thousands and thousands of tops.

In either event, BAS for me is the company to go with if you still have the original top on your Crossfire. After 18 years it's either your window falling out or the top having developed discoloration or creases.

Go and purchase from BAS - you will not find a better price for a top that is better quality than OEM. It does come treated so you won't have to use any products (303 or Ragtop treatment) and can just watch the rain pearl right off your top.

Top people, honest people, great quality and standing behind their products. Go out in an order and see if Becca can give you a discount or organize another group buy!

Thanks for the positive review here
I just got a new BAS top this summer and a member here and good friend installed it at my house in August
And you are correct....BAS has provided more tops to our members here than any other company I have ever heard of and yes they do stand behind their product.

Again thanks for sharing this here !

This is the second time I've heard of this. The last time, the window failed during install. BAS sent a new top and a shipping label, they wanted the bad top back to see what was wrong.
That was sometime in the last five years, but I can't remember when.

We put mine on in 2020 after I glued my old one four times. My old top didn't just have a bad window, it was attacked by an angry cat and didn't look all that perfect.

Good to know that source and reference.

My top is still perfect - well, maybe a little wrinkled like me. The top goes down in May when it comes out of storage and up in Oct/Nov when it goes back in storage. Garaged and covered when not in use. And temperature does not get godawful high like the southeast/west so rear window in low danger of melting out.

When it's not broken, why fix it Glad it looks nice still.
I have always wondered what the reasoning is behind "storing" it with the top down? Wouldn't that make wrinkles appear as it sits folded an extended period rather than under pressure?

I just recently noticed a couple from Canada (snowbirds) who come down here to Florida in the winter. They have a red Crossfire Roadster in the garage, top seems to always be down and my guess is they leave it here when they leave. Hope I get to see and talk to them sometime to and who knows, maybe they are already familiar with the forum

I personally never leave my top down overnight
The top is always closed overnight in the garage and for any length of time when the car is not being driven although I do leave both windows fully open when parked inside
