Tried doing the resync procedure a few times but I think I messed it up. But I did get the top to try to go up from the trunk. Will have to try from scratch tomorrow. Still not even trying to lower yet.

Like pizzaguy lamented, the resync must be successful to troubleshoot further (if needed0. Please follow the instructions again making sure it completes. If you rush it, it'll hamper success. Good luck!

You are not going to get good help here making statements like that. What do you mean "TRY"? Mechanical systems can not "try", only a human can "try". I suspect what you are saying is that putting the top UP worked to a point then it stopped or it started to "surge" and "jerk" and finally stopped moving at a certain point. This implies low fluid.

Another suspect is a bad travel sensor on one of the cylinders. This can explain what is going on, but you MUST be more specific.
When trying to go up, what EXACTLY happened?

And keep in mind (you'd know this if you would read the posts I suggested), a top that will go UP but not DOWN is almost always due to a bad divider switch or top open switch. These two switches are not checked when putting the top UP only when putting it DOWN.
