Always been curious about these doors.
What is the good?
What is the bad?

I was too!
So, my VERY skilled mechanic friend put them on for me, and it was a really really tough job…Which is annoying because they advertise as a super easy bolt on job. (These are custom for the Crossfire, not universal). So that was frustrating.
They take some getting used to, you need to open them out all the way and then push them up, which feels awkward at first but is super easy. They are hard to pull back down as the gas shocks hold them in place. I’ve only had them on for a day or so and I’m already getting used to them, though.
All in all, if I had known the hassle it was going to be, I wouldn’t have done it. But I really really enjoy them so far. They function and close perfectly and are a great attention getter.
I believe the practicality of those type doors is yet to be decided. Regarding usefulness that would be one's personal opinion. They do provide an exotic look to Crossfire's blend of retrofuturistic and art deco design.

Then I dont get it, one guy told me they were "practical because you only gotta open them a little then they go up, so easier to open doors in parking lots".
I suspect he was just trying to justify the expense...

probably, yeah. You do have to push them most of the way out at least before you can push them up. Truthfully I don’t think it helps in regard to parking spaces. Personally, I don’t think there’s anything practical about them. They’re wildly impractical if anything. But that being said, practicality wasn’t exactly my first priority with acquiring a Crossfire, so the doors weren’t either haha. I feel that it does kind of add some exotic flair to the car, and it’s a very unexpected feature to have. I don’t know, I guess the only purpose is to stand out! Which is why I did it
I guess the biggest concern might be someone parking so close to the driver door you could not open them enough to push them up. But unless you are super slim and agile I guess the stock doors would be an issue also.
Interesting. Few questions…how much are they? What is so difficult about install and how long did it take? Are there different manufacturers?
What handle is used to shut them?
I like them. Looks sharp.

yeah, since you need to push them out about 80% anyway to get them to open, I imagine that would be an issue anyway. They don’t automatically push upwards at that point, you have to nudge the door upwards to get them to lift. So you can just open the doors normally to exit or enter the car, just not all the way.

mine came from www.verticaldoors.com. I don’t know how many manufacturers there are for them, but it seems that a lot of companies on eBay and such sell the same ones.
I paid about 1100 for mine, but they seem to vary a lot in price, from seller to seller. According to my friend, the instructions are entirely useless, and there was missing hardware (which was resolved quickly, luckily), and they don’t tell you where specifically to cut into the fender etc. it sounds like it’s a fairly complicated install that requires a lot of outside research, due to the uselessness of the instructions, when it boasts a “simple bolt on job”. In addition, it’s definitely a two person job to install the doors. It took them a while to do it, and they’re both very mechanically inclined. It also requires moving the windshield fluid tank, as it is in the way of something. I just took mine out since I only drive it with the top down, and I may get an aftermarket one but I don’t know.
the handle is just the interior door handle that comes in the vehicle. It’s awkward and I recommend an aftermarket handle for sure.
Thanks for the video and your commentary.
Very clear explanations.
Interesting but now I know that this is not for me.
Removed from my bucket list.
