Hey gang,

Just purchased a leftover 05 SRT/6 from a local dealer for a great deal. The car had 13 miles on it when I purchased and the 3 year / 36 just started on it a few months ago! I love the car but had a few questions.

My headlights have some film on the plastic covers probably from sitting around for 2 plus years. Are you guys finding anyway to remove that film?

What are the best bang for buck mods on this car...intake, chip, pulleys etc...

What I learned in there really helped me clean up my lights. I had great luck with Meguiar's Plastx.

 

Meguiar's Plastx is the solution to the headlight problem. It's about $6 at Walmart and comes in a white bottle(not maroon, like most of their stuff). As far as mods on the SRT-6, the are few and far between. The only real power upgrades come by way of Mercedes Benz tuners. It's says Chrysler on it, but you just bought a Benz. That's good thing, aside for the cost of maintenance. Hope you can Change oil yourself, the dealer will charge you $150 for it.

The best upgrade for meaningful power increases are the Pulley and ECU upgrades, but they generally cost about $3,000.

There are a couple of small performance shops that are "developing" some bolt ons for us, but they are slow in coming and will probably still be limited.

Whatever you need to know is on this site. Just remember that the "SEARCH" button is your friend. It makes life much easier for you.

tried it all but now have a fix. it's tooth paste. just take your time, damp a little water on a cloth or towel. add a little toothpaste and rub, you don't have to let it dry, just keep rubbing, it will take some time but it will work.

Yeah that works too. Just make sure to use a "paste" and not a gel. It needs to have a little abrasive to it, the gels generally don't.

Toothpaste also works to remove those annoying tiny little specks on your windshield that you can't see until the sun is shining through.

 

I just bought my 2004 last Friday. It also had some cloudy lens's. I went to buy the trusty Meguiar's but they were sold out. the did have Blue Magic brand,
so I gave it a try. The blue magic worked great! It only took about one minute on each lens and they look new. This stuff does have an ammonia smell but not too bad.

Are you serious? I created a thread about this recently with no responses. Are you talking about the tiny little pits that are almost non existent until the sun shines directly through? How do you apply it? Just a rag and a lot of patience? How in the heck does tooth paste remove pits from glass?

If this is true, I'm all over it!!

 

I've used the LensRenew Kit on several vehicles and have had great success. The cost of the kit isn't that bad either at roughly $40.

I will try to track down some of my before and after photos.

ITS 100% BONAFIDE!!! Just don't do it with your toothbrush, it will take all weekend...

Good ol' fashioned Crest Mint paste works as well as any. Apply it with a damp cloth and don't be stingy with the paste. I've also heard of people using a small orbital buffer to work it in. The pits aren't actually pits. They are ON TOP of the glass. I believe they are caused by environmental fallout such as acid rain.

 

I am going to the dollar store and buying a case of cheapo toothpaste and going to town on my window with an orbital polisher tomorrow!!

 

i asked my service advisor about the cloudiness of the headlights in my '05 and they covered new headlight assemblies under the factory warranty, gotta love that!
