Do you change your oil after garaging for the winter?
Just wondering, do you guys have your oil changed having having your car garaged for the winter?
My baby has been in the garage since mid-November, and I hope to get it out in the next day or two. It has around 4300 miles, and I'm still working on the original oil change that the dealer did when I bought it. (It was a 'new' SRT with 16 miles that had been warehoused.)
So...should I get the oil changed, or am I good to go until 7000 miles? Thanks for your opinions.

If your still running on the factory oil, I'd certainly change it. Even after letting it sit the winter, I'd still change it. Make sure they reset the computer so it won't show to be changed in a few thousand miles.
I would change it since it's still original. Probably not if you had changed it before storing.
I'm wondering what those do at first start up when the cylinders are dry after sitting for so long without starting? I run mine once a week or so.

I change mine every spring after it's long winters nap. Cheap insurance to make sure it didn't get contaminated over the winter.
Thanks for the opinions guys. I guess I'll go ahead and get it changed since it has 4300 miles on it and it's been sitting all winter.
Just to clarify, the dealer did change the oil when I bought it...so I haven't been running it all of this time on some nasty oil from 2005.

I changed mine before storage and don't start until spring. If you start it once a week / month make sure it comes up to normal running temperature before shutting off.
In my mind oil is cheap and I still change every 3000 miles and never look back. If I stored the car for a while I WOULD ALWAYS CHANGE BEFORE STORAGE TO KEEP FROM ETCHING THE BEARINGS WITH OLD ACIDS.
Sitting still adds no crud, if you want add a small heater under the oil pan with a thermal switch to cut in where you like, 40 degrees. That would be over kill. My 6 pack 440 never gets started without oil pressure first. THATs important to float the bearings after a long snooze. An oil pressure
accumulator is easy to add or as I did, make.

I change the oil in my roadster before storing it for the winter. No need to change in the spring since Mobil1 is pretty stable. I do start it every 2-4 weeks and let it warm up - sometimes drive it around the neighborhood if the roads are dry - but that doesn't generate much in the way of contaminants given 8.5 quarts of oil. Same plan for the SRT6.
I am careful not to rev it when starting nor until it warms up.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I made an appointment at the dealer to get it changed this Friday. Next winter, I will definitely get it changed before storing it for the winter.

I'll let you know how it works out. He couldn't even get an exact price, the service manager just said 'somewhere around $100'. Hubby replied, 'is that closer to $100 or $200?', and she replied, 'closer to $100'. I'm going to call back this week and try to get an exact price, because there is no reason they shouldn't be able to give one on a standard thing like an oil change. Hubby is too docile when talking on the phone, but I can be a real *itch if I need be, lol.
