Suspension Question
I want to SOFTEN (yes, soften) the ride of my SRT. It is my daily driver and lets just say the roads here in downtown Houston are less than forgiving. My goal is not to change the ride height of the vehicle; I just want to soften the ride so I don’t get thrown around every time I go over a bump.
I have no experience with aftermarket suspension, so my question is – what would be the best system to soften the ride?
From what I have read Eibach would not be what I am looking for, and not sure Konis would give me that much of a softer ride either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated…

SRT6 Dan posted great results with the Koni adjustible shocks - give him a PM.
You would need to get softer shocks, softer springs will drop the heigth too much.My eibachs were not softer especially AFTER they were shortened. If the Konis could be opened up ( settings) that may help.
So what I am thinking after more research and advice (from a forum member) is to go with the koni adjustable shocks, and leave the springs stock.
Does anyone have a different opinion about leaving/changing the springs?

Personally, I like the looks of the eibach lowering springs, and have heard they are about the same stiffness as stock, but feel more controlled because of the lower center of gravity. When I have the money I plan to go with eibach springs for the look, and Koni shocks on the softest setting to ease the ride harshness. Then I'll put 18" wheels on the rear so I can have drag radials on back there, and the extra inch of rubber will soften the ride even further.
That's my plan anyway...when I get some money...someday...

My question is would the change to softer shocks or springs cause you to bottom out in the front?
haha its weird your trying to soften the suspension and im trying to find a way to get my car to handle like my buddies s2000 it actually feels like a go cart.

I've noticed a DRASTIC difference between the handling of my SRT6 (good) and my former auto-x'r, 02 Miata (better). I believe that "feel" is mainly due to the higher CG. THe XF handles well, but it will never "feel" like an S2000 (or Miata) until it's 2" closer to Mother Earth (like those are), or so STIFF you couldn't stand it on a regular road.
BTW - I was very happy to trade that go-cart "feel" for 3x the horsepower! Once my OEM Continentals wear down, I'll start experimenting with better (grippier) rubber and see how I can change my perceptions.
Good Luck. Have Fun!

I reccomend the koni shocks with stock SRT6 spring, you also should trim the bumpers in the shocks about 3/4 of an inch when you change to konies. If you want to lower the SRT6 I reccomend just trimming the stock springs about 3/4 of a coil for about an 1 drop ! If you drop more than an 1 inch trim shocks a little more 1/2 more, or 1 & 1/4". Call me for questions. Eight O Five threefouroneonetwofourone. My cell. I have as new 4 SRT6 shocks for sale also for go carters!
