Jerry Tune from LET
There is a lot of hype about this tune on MB world and I was just wondering if anyone over here has it? I recently had my car retuned by Inmotion and wish I would have known about the Jerrytune before hand.

We're a distributor for the LET tunes in the Crossfires and have had nothing but positive results. We teamed up with Jerry at LET after learning his background and vast knowledge of automotive tuning. Our custom tunes are spot on and will deffinately change the way your car feels.
The best thing is that LET has C32s to test their tunes on and we have N/A Crossfires, so you know the tune you are getting is deffinately going to work.
Our special tuning prices are still good for another week if you're interested.

I have a tune from LET and I love it. I can't tell you the before and after as I had a 185mm pulley installed at the same time, but I am very happy with my tune and not concerned about other tunes being better. I understand your curiousity on how different tuners stack up. Inmotion seems to have a good handle on these cars also since alot of their cars have done well at the track. I would think LET would have a better handle on our our engines as thats what they have the most experience tuneing and making parts for. It would be cool to see a tuner shootout though.
I am really curious as to what exactly is the difference between InMotion and the JerryTune (I like the moniker better than LET Tune, so long as no one confuses it with Jerry Rigged
)
I'd really like to hear Jerry and InMotion discuss the differences.

I'm planning on getting mine this winter. So as a potential customer I'm also curious what I get.
I'm not close to either to have mine tuned by dyno. I do however have VRP,Evosport, EVOMS that I can go to, but they are big mercedes tuners and not sure what experience if any with the six. Also they are at least triple the cost.
I dont believe that InMotion does dyno tuning as I asked them about just dropping off my ECU for tuning and they said it would be just as fast to overnight it to them. I only live about an hour North of them. I could be wrong.

Dynotune is not absolutely necessary nor will it yield optimum results. The best tune is one that uses a wideband 02 and data logging on the street. A car reacts differently on the street than on a dyno. Still... a dyno tune is better than a stock tune. And a a wideband w/data logging is a truely a custom tune and will produce optimum results for YOUR CAR

OK, if you guys are still down for the group buy, please paypal $499 to sales@lettuning.com. Be sure to include your name, address, and mbworld alias and I'll send more instructions via email.
I personally don't think there is a lot of differences in "out of the box tunes". I believe the main difference is how far the tuner wants to push the limits of the engine. I know my RENNtech tune is probably a little on the conservative side, but that's because they don't want to push the engine to the limits. I had asked them about retuning the ECU after I had my car dyno'ed and found it started dumping fuel at 5,100 RPM to cool the IAT's. They offered to retune it for free, but said they would like to see some data logs of the IAT's before doing it. Jerry had rode with me down the track a couple times at US 41 with his data logger and said the tune did not look to bad, that the main thing it was pulling the timing a little to much in his opinion.

I have the "Jerry Tuned" "JERTUNEY" and I gotta say it is more impressive than I ever thought it would or even could be.
I have had 2 Inmotion tunings on 04 Limiteds and they were very good to work with.
But the "JERTUNEY" is wicked to say the least..
Enjoy the Ride...

You should double check a/f via a gauge to make sure its safe. To not have one and simply trust the out-of-box tune is gambling with your engine.
Tuning on a dyno would allow for the tune to be the more accurate than out-of-the-box. In my case i take the car out for a run after i receive the tuned ECU to monitor my a/f gauges and check that its safe.
Sorry guys for the late post.
The tuning that I (LET) does for the Bosch ME2.8.1 ECU is not that complicated.
Most tuners purchase their ECU flashes from a shared database.
Inmotion tuning does the same thing I assume because of how their gains and list of cars is formatted.

This looks very similar to http://www.diga-tec.de/en/mercedes.html and this one http://www.powerchip.ro/chip-tuning-13-Mercedes.html and http://www.p-torque.co.uk/
I could go on and on.
While this usually isn't an issue, I didn't want to sell tunes that were made by some guy in another country that most likely didn't even have the car on a dyno when the file was created.
I also wanted to create custom tunes here in the states, using the same gas that you will be using along with the same mods.
We dyno test our tunes, track test our tunes, and road test our tunes for optimum performance and driveability.
I will be more than happy to run head to head with any other tuner. Same car, same dyno, same day, only using a different tune.
I've told everyone that I've spoken to about our tunes that I don't want to hide behind our work. If you want to know what we did, just ask. If you want us to show you what we did, no problem. I will personally explain it to you in full detail and I will try my best to help you understand engine dynamics and how we tune a car.
There are a few guys behind the scenes at LET and we are all working really hard to create the best software we can.
Another unique feature about LET is that we modify the existing software on your ECU. We don't flash over it with software from another ECU. I personally read out and save the stock software. We then modify that stock file and flash it back to the ECU.
Hope this helps!

Jerry,
I sent my ECU out yesterday overnight. You should see it today by 3:00pm. I forgot to mention in my letter that we use mostly 92 octane gas in Oregon. Thanks again for the great support.

Jerry, thanks for the great response above. I hope InMotion sees this thread and chimes in too.
Can you tell us some of the things that you modify - or should I say account for? (kind of a check list of benefits)
Such as:
Altitude
Octane of Gas available
Redline (RPM limit)
Top speed limit
Throttle map
Fuel map
Modifications (CAI, pulley, etc)
The reason I ask, is I want to know what I information I can tell you (or any other tuner for that matter) that will allow you to tune my car better.
I've seen mention of data logs. Should I send you a data log along with my ECU? Would it help? I have an OBDII connector and laptop with logging software. What readings would you want logged?
Thanks again for your participation in this forum. We appreciate all the info.
