Finally Someone Raced Me!! SRT-6 vs Lancer Evo

It sounds like you had a lot of fun racing him lol. Now get you a CAI and beat him even worse next time!
Here is some info for you: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blowoff_valve
Superchargers typically will have a bypass valve aka boost actuator valve and turbos a blowoff valve. The blowoff valve is audible but some types of bypass valves are audible as well.
If you go on youtube and type "blow off valve" you can see several videos of cars running them. Kids all over the place here have them on their cars, you can not drive around the block without hearing 2 or 3 of them lol.

Oh very nice i would love to see your vid against an evo can u send me a link? Are u both stock? what evo?
Pressurized engines i.e. are cool to drive. Whether SC or turbo. But I have to say the rush of the turbo is very exhilirating. My 93 RX7 TT is of the sequential variety. This means there is no turbo lag. The first turbo which is always spooled up is engaged below 4k rpm. Hit that magical 4k and the rush of speed is amazing. I equate driving an SC car to driving a NA V8. But driving a TT sequential car is like lighting the aftreburner, it is just plain fun.

Nice kill on the Evo!! Do tracks do those videos?
Is the Needs Wings CAI the one to get, or do you recommend anything else?
Right when I got home last night I started searching for tracks, and think there is a good one in Englishtown NJ and going to check out.
He was so funny though because my girlfriend practically **** her pants.
Almost **** her pants again when they blocked us in the parking lot, lol.
There is a guy here that runs an EVO at the Woodburn track and put down an 11.5 sec 1/4 last time I saw him. He was tuning after each run. Real nice guy and wicked fast car.

Does your intake increase HP?
I want to add a CAI now.... I hear that's the first step.
Does the Needs Wings CAI add HP?
Thanks for any assistance!!

WOW-
Wasn't expecting that much gain.
Sorry for the 20 questions but is it a self install or do you need some AutoSkill?
Calling me a beginner would probably be a understatement. lol

That seems like a lot for just an intake.
Do you also have K&N Air Filters? That is something different right?
Sorry I'm so clueless

The exhaust gases spin the turbine which compresses the incoming air to a higher pressure which means higher power when ignition in the engine block. The fact that they work off of the exhaust makes them inherintly bad for drag racing. A supercharger (like our SRT's) works kind of like a vacuum. Like the turbo, it compresses the air into the plenum giving a more power on the ignition, but unlike a turbo, it doesn't require the engine to 'spool' up the turbine before that power is realized. This is the reason that you have 'instant' power while he takes a while to bring the power on, otherwise known as 'Turbo Lag'. Most modern turbos are pretty good with this, but drive a mid-70s Porsche or 80's turbo hatch and you'll know what I mean!
Now the important part, the Lancer is Mitsubishi's bottom of the barrel car. If you buy a base model Lancer, its kinda like driving a Neon. When you spec an Evo model, its just like putting lipstick on a pig. You have a fast, trackworthy 4-door, but its still just a commuter car. The Crossfire is FAR more refined, better engineered, well built and uses far higher standards in quality than the Mitsu. You can easily mod out an Evo to 1000HP, but people do that all the time with Pintos, old Datsuns, Novas and Chevelles. It doesn't make them good cars, just wicked quick in a quarter mile run.
In summation, I wouldn't waste your time or your gas racing any 'ricer' car. Driving a Crossfire, you should be above it!

of course, you could always make your own similar intake as many members have done with the srt6s on this forum.
if you run a needswings or a similar type of intake, you will just need the cone filter that it comes with (or that you will purchase if you make it). the stock intake has two intake boxes with air filters in them. these stock filters can be replaced with other filters such as BMC Filters, Green Filters, and K&N filters. They allow greater air flow and therefore a slight increase in horsepower and throttle response. However, the gains by just adding filters are nothing compared to getting the Needswings, making your own, or doing an SL55 setup.
Here's a little vid of my buddy Alan's Evo 9 and it's ricer 2.3l 4 banger turbo. LOL

I'm surprised at the price, you can get them now at a pretty good price.
It's main competition is a STI correct? Is that much faster?

While I appreciate that they are both quick and perform quite well, I still say they're both uglier than a mud fence.
