GTO slower then I thought!
Thought the GTO would have been quicker. From 30 to 140 MPH it wasn't even close, kept pulling away must have been 6 cars. Nice guy, talked to him after the run, said he was stock. My guess is that they are high 13's stock.
not a great power-to-weight ratio on the GTO. also depends on the year, some of the first gen GTO's had only 350hp, until the 400hp engine was introduced. 2004 models do a 14second quarter mile, and 2005+ 13.6...
i pulled hard on a fully modded 2005 (bolt-ons) GTO this fall with no contest. GREAT-sounding exhaust though! i love the rumble of those LS-V8's!

They weigh so much more than our cars. They have no chance at the track after seeing them run, unless they spend a ton of money....

idk about a 1000 pounds. they weight between 3700 and 3800 lbs and if i am correct, the crossfire weighs 3200-ish. so like 600 lbs. each 100 pounds of weight is about a tenth of a second (.1) different in 1/4 mile time.
it also depends on the motor. the 5.7 (LS1) motors are good for about 350/350 hp/tq and the 6.0 (LS2) motors are good for about 400/395 hp/tq.
it is definitely the horsepower/weight ratio. they can be made fast, but it ill take more because of the excess weight they have. the Formulas or LS1 Camaros do not have this extra weight so they are faster with the same mods (generally)

a friend of mine had a pretty quick one, 11.0xx in the 1/4, but it took a lot of money and nitrous to get there. Most are no match for a the SRT.
