We beeze peddling as fast as we can go
Doing the paint this weekend cause its gonna get to 70, urethane here I come. Just was going to show the state of affairs so far. Remember I cut this last weekend and its been REALL cold so no day work so far.
Getting the little edges and such done, going to do the bottom so that I can focus on the Visible side later when I flip it over. Just bonding in the screen grills on the scoops to prevent killer leaves....
Its the wekend again, party hardy, Iam going for a mess of Gin and Tonics.......Wood y

So cold here that I froze my Y's off.

You can search on my postings under the name, but if it is too long I believe that people tend to over look it, just my short attention span
what were you saying, WW

Come on now....You want me to use the search function?? Why cant you just start over and compile one big monster thread with all your mods in it. LOL. Just Kidding Buddy, keep up the good work, your stuff is always interesting to look at. I am curious to see how your hood turns out. I saw a Ford GT last weekend and the hood had similar vents large enough for a small child to fall in.
Dang Woody
That hood is lookin pretty darn sweet.
I always liked the ribs (except when the "other" Chryslers started to copy it) but I like how you've incorporated them into your design.
Look forward to seeing the finished product.

Woody,
Out of curiosity on your design. Are the front of your vents in between the radiator and the fan belt so any water would not drip on the belts? Did you think about putting solid sides down the vents to channel any water to the front? I would think that while driving the water would not be much of an issue with the venturi effect, except maybe on the sides of the openings. When parked outside would be different. I really like the looks of your hood. Great work.

This is why Iam Alpha, the testing of the water is going to be done after painting. The scoop is way in front of the belts.
The negative scoops are just behind the radiator to maximize negative pressure there and DRAW more air thru the core. With motion the venturi effect is to aid cooling and sitting the heat has a way OUT.
You may remember my foot brace and the intitial cooling alterations that I did to allow me to do autocrossing previously . Thats when I found that extended high rev operation caused overheating of the intercooler. Well thats solved, now I want to continue to improve the overall thermal package in the Crossfire by improving heat extraction and rejection when parked or sitting in the staging lanes. Later this summer fan mods are my next initiative.
After this is done, there an interested ( he said ) manufacturer that is thinking about manufacturing carbon fiber hoods on this design. Id love to see that if it is all up to my sniff test of freshness / bullet proof design completeness. That way these could be available for others and there is not much better than swapping hoods for looks and retention of the sales value, Iam sure that youll agree.
Swapping the hood on is about a 10 minute process for a 62 year old unassisted except for a bunch of bathroom rugs to protect the windshield and fenders from the oopsies. It should be neat overall and yall get to watch in case it goes pottie, though I have been thinking this thru 'I believe'.
Great weather (73 degrees) to get the Spring design season started. THoes that make it to the Tail of the D will get to see the hood design , though I wont want to open the hood due to work in progress; just to warn ya. The paint finish will be unique and not what others will probably want as Iam going with some unusual type of paint material. All the projects should be done by the Carlisle meet though, I HOPE.
Date night #2, Drive safe, Woody

Woody,
The use of a low pressure zone to pull heat off the radiator/h.e. is sound principle.
Can we assume there will be lots of facts and figures to support effectiveness?
Temps @ rest, and under speed?
Also, what might be the effect on other parts of the engine compartment temps?
Love your projects,
U da man

Woody,
I just have to say that your projects are inspiring. I like the new threads because I usually have to read each one 10 times just to get my pea-brain around what you're doing.
Keep it up!
