Thumbs down New rattle. :(

Ok so my SRT decided to pick up a rattle yesterday. It sounds like its coming from the passenger-side rear of the car. It literally started yesterday and got worse as the day went on (I drove a lot yesterday). I figured it was my shocks because I just got them put in, but I checked and all the bolts are tight. Sway bars and everything under the car is tight as can be.

You can only hear it on bumpy roads or bumps that "jar" the car. Pushing up and down on the car will not cause the noise. It can't be heard from outside the car either.

I know that it isnt the hatch because I drove up and down my street with the hatch open and it still rattles (and Ive already tried the electric tape and no difference).

It really sounds like its coming from the rear bumper, but I have no idea what could be in there.

Any ideas? I have a soundclip on the way too..

EDIT: Soundlclip link.

Could be where the seat belt covers are there is only one screw and a clip that holds that together if it gets loose you will hear a rattle. There is not much behind the rear panel in the hatch, but outside you might want to check the heat shield for the muffler

My car does the same or similar thing. It all started after I installed the Koni adjustable shocks. I've had it up on the lift several times checking the bolts and suspension pieces, but all is tight and as it should be. I have no idea what it is although I've heard others report this after installing Konis as well. Yours sounds a bit louder, did you ensure the shock isolators (rubbers on the shock tops) were on before install?

Ditto! So is this just normal effects of the Koni's? I've replaced the koni's twice under warranty and the noise is still there. I've checked everything and it's all tight... however... I just had my lady drive me around the block while I was in the trunk and there appears to be two rattles: 1 is from under the car right around where the diff is (it's a rather heavy thud when I'm right on top of it) 2 is a slight thud under bigger bumps around the rear pass wheel well. But there is a constant low rattle while driving over anything other than completely smooth roads.

Any ideas are welcome as I've been living with this rattle for sometime now.

I mean I know this may sound a bit off... but could it be the old rear hatch rattle problem that quite a few people have experienced?

Damn...I just re-read the post... seems like you already tried to check out the hatch rattle...oh well, back to the drawing board.

Mine actually just started rattling too, but I think mine is the hatch seeing as I don't have Koni's on yet

I would if I had access to a lift... I may have to take it back to Jeff and see if he can check it out. I would just hate to pay/waste his time for something simple like a loose cover or something but I guess better be safe than sorry.

Mine had a rattle it was coming from the exhaust hanger bracket, the bolt was loose. Thats in the same area that you have described.
Hope this helps.

Just went out and tightened it and drove it around and the rattle is still there. Going to keep looking around.

I hate to bring up an old thread but... I still have the rattling. I've had a mechanic look at it on a lift for about an hour and he said everything was tight. However, he did hear the noise and hes stumped.

I've read that someone had an exhaust hanger that needed welding yet I'm unable to find anything under the car that would cause these rattles. The car has been sitting for months because I feel uneasy driving it not knowing what's causing the rattles.

Has anyone who had a rattle coming from under the car fixed? If so what/how? Or ideas?

Thanks again

+1 only mine was the rubber isolator between the hanger and exhaust came loose.
