Ok, put all of my go fast stuff back on the coupe and I have "approximately" 1/2", maybe a little less or a little more of clearance in your problem area.
Sure is fun to go fast again!

 

Making the pulley smooth makes if smaller and you need to consider the operating RPM. You are going to make some terrific RPM speed as you get smaller the changes may suprise you, please do the math. Woody

 

i considered that woody. my question would be if i just remove the ribs and kept the outside edges and the belt rides on the backside instead of the front of the belt will it change the diameter or merely allow the belt to ride a mm or 2 farther inside the pulley giving me the clearance i would like.

 

dj was this done with the c3 and oem setup or the 181 and c3? a 1/2" would be great but theres no way ill see that much clearance with the oem pulleys

 

Back to running stacked. 181 and the Code 3. No more extended high speed runs for me!
The C3 is working by the way (If you saw the damage in other threads to the C3)

Well extended runs are ok I guess. Just won't do it stacked. Think things got a bit overspun for too long.

 

ok finally took the pics, so here is how my setup looks for just the C3. Hope this helps

 

goodgenes, thats pretty closes. weren't there two different sets of the c3 wrap kit; 1 for stock setup which included 3 pulleys because it was too close to the idler pulley AND 1 for ASP setup which included only two pulley because the idler pulley was already small.
Am I mistaken?
Did you get the right kit?

Thats so close that the belts have to be polishing eachother backsides...........Woody Your on the slack side of the s/c pulley also..

jason yours runs as close as mine did. thats why i removed it. just to close for me, i was afraid i would trash the belt. how long have you had it on? no damage to the belt?
woody what about my question regarding the pulley ribs being machined down and running the on the backside of the belt? good idea?

 

sorry T1, I thought he said in his post that goodgenes is using the C3 setup. But the pic does look like he's using the stock SC idler pulley, atleast I think I see ribs in there. I'm still considering doing this, but I just want to hear how people are doing with the wrap pulley and how the belt is holding up. Just want to make sure more people are getting the same results.

32, I may not be the best for your question, maybe tighed1.

If I understand you were going to just do some of the ribs. THat would be odd to me as the edges would carry all of the stress and distort the belt, again if I understand it all. Me I like bigger pullies though I can not figure how to get one to fit in the current design. My pulley saver had to go to a longer belt to fit in all the increased pulley lengths, so I again ask Tighed1 to step in on your query...Woody

 

what i would like to do is have a machine shop remove the ribs on the pulley and bring the shoulder of the outside edges so that the inside of the pulley is now smooth were the belt rides. with the ribs removed and the belt riding inside the pulley on the smooth side do you think it will be spinning to fast for the bearing? ballpark im looking at removing 2.2mm of material inside the ribbed area

Ok I did this on the coupe. It's working just fine though as Woody said at a higher RPM.

how did the machine shop cut it down? i spoke with a machinist and he told me if i cut it smooth there would be little to no pulley left and that the bearing was non removable. pulley poured in a mold with the bearing.
maybe i can send you mine and have your guy do it. was it costly?
