Had a ride in an SRT6 today. - Wow!!!
A mate at work has just taken delivery of his Aero Blue SRT6 roadster so he took me out for a blast at lunch time.
Sweet Jesus, I was surprised how fast it was compared to my N/A Coupe. It is certainly quicker than my 300bhp EVO was and I can see why these give 911's a good pasting.
Trouble is, I'm now wanting to change my car much earlier than I originally intended.
You owners of the SRT6 have one hell of a fantastic car.

I have an NA with some decent mods. Pretty quick little roadster. My wife has the SRT which, for some silly reason, I was forced to drive yessterday.
OK so her's is faster, really faster, but you don't notice it so much until you go back. Drove my NA this morning and wondered what was wrong with it.
Seemed a bit slow and doggy.
So, I know the feeling pal.
Get and SRT while they are a bargain. You will not regret it.

I have an SE Roadster. It has a stick shift, it's painted RED and the top comes down. The performance and handling exceed my need. I live in an urban area with no Autobahn or drag strip. I read on these pages all the failures and maintenance problems on the SRT6. No thank you. If I want to go fast I'll do it on my 2.3 liter Triumph motorcycle. Modified to my needs and will take the measure of any SRT6. World's oldest teenybopper Gary...

Besides you are in Europe where manual shift is normal. And as it should be.
Then you can make the "sacrifice" and suffer with the autostick.

That is a $150 part. Mine has not experienced an IC pump failure, but I will know what the problem is if it occurs and will readily fix it. By all accounts, the SRT is a very reliable car and for the most part is issue free. As with any car forum, you will hear when something goes wrong with a car, but that does not mean it is a systemic problem with the model. Please enlighten me on these failures and maintenance problems. Thanks
I had that same trouble - had my N/A SSB roadster for just over a year and loved it. Then went for just a quick look at an SRT..........the test drive sold it to me and I came home with it!
Absolutely fantastic value for a car that can run with the best of 'em! Plus part of a very exclusive club here in the UK!

We have had a handful of members here who have had to do these, I believe most under warranty, but if you were without warranty and had a failure and wanted to put the car to OEM specs, it could cost you several thousand, if not more. Until I find a 6 speed SRT, don't think I much want one anyway

I also have not seen a lot of problems posted here on the 6 as far as S/C ,,,Given any other piddley problems they are not any more prevelant in the srt than the n/a ,

I would contend however that the rate of SC failures are no more of a systemic problem than other cars with superchargers. The 3.2 SC AMG engine has proven to be a very reliable engine in the SLK32 and the C32 over the years and there is no doubt in my mind that it will carry the same legacy with the SRT. Remember, this was an old and proven engine before Chrysler/Diamler ever concieved of the idea for a supercharged Crossfire.

Also, you can easily pick up a rebuilt SC for these engines for about $1,400, and I have seen them for less than a grand on eBay. I realize that is still not cheap, but cost is also relative to your budget. In the unfortunate event that I were to have a SC go bad, that amount of money would not alter my life any. Once again it is a relative thing.

driving on my Supercharger. Knock on wood, but no problems there yet,
but I do understand your concern. However, the way I see it, normally
I'd be buying a new car about now. $6k for a supercharger replacement
would be cheaper (though I still have some warranty time/miles left).

I think you are spot on with your observation. I have not done any performance mods (other than tires) on my SRT6. Stock, it is faster than most other cars. I still have a factory warranty through 2012 and as a result have kept it stock.
However, from a style standpoint, I have done a number of modifications. All of which have been done so as to look like it came from the factory that way. A very exclusive club indeeed.

From what I have seen of SRT owners on this site that have modded theirs and enjoy the power that they can get out of them, they are wrench turners for the most part. Guys that care about their car, and not some teenager that is on a daily mission to try to blow the engine up.

I would suggest that 90% of the issueswith the SRT, and frankly the NA, hs more to do with the fact that so many of them sat on a storage lot for more than a year before being sold.
The issues not related to that are typical of Benz cars. Not out of the norm. I have an NA and an SRT.Both have had their irritaions but as reliable as any car I owned and more likely to survive occasional abuse.
Biggest issue with these cars, shortage of parts and technicians who know much about them. The Super Charger doesn't really effect that equation.
