*Needed* 20 to Pre-order Wavetrac LSD for SLK32/SRT-6
Well guys after reading through the 15 pages, i think you all got me convinced. I might have to jump on the band wagon and get one of these.
But i do got a few questions, maybe some of you can help me out. I will probably give Devin a call tomorow or friday if i can find some free time at work, and get all set up. But if some of you have asked him the same Q's, im sure hes a busy guy, and i dont want to take up too much of his time
Im would consider myself pretty automovtive savy, but when it comes down to LSD's things can get a bit foggy for me (never really was exposed to much other then friction type LSD's in trucks). First, i would like to know, if this diff would work good in a daily driver, from what ive read, it seems like the "LSD" effect doesnt kick in untill noticeable outside wheel spin occurs, allowing the car to steer normaly in normal traffic?
Im guessing that it would be a fairly simple bolt in mod (simple as in no additional machining or super special parts that are hard to find up here)?
Would it tick off the T/C? or ABS?
And lastly, the backlash, how hard is it to fine tune one of these? Ive rebuilt a few engines in my side time (mostly high performance 2 strokes and 4 strokes (snowmobiles and seadoos)), so i know all about clearances and such. are the shims or tuning parts easy to get access to north of the border (ie from a benz dealer or such (for quick access))
Any help would be great guys, reason i really want one of these is because the past 2 weeks we have had alot of rain, and i just can stand one wheel peel any more, especialy when the T/C has a seizure when it notices any wheel spin.
Plus i think that things such as good brakes and a solid drivetrain are important before doing any HP speed mods. (The brakes on our cars already kick butt)

Sik,
If you talk to Devin and get your questions answered, would you mind posting them? I've got a bunch of the same question you have and I'm also leaning toward getting in on this.

they will be available during your install to help with whatever you need...he said there will be instructions accompanying the LSD as well...I am around big trucks and such, but not these little dudes, so I had plenty of questions...great guy to talk to...
Wedge, all I can say is all my racing buddies look at me like I'm nuts when I tell them I have an open diff. I've had issues (spinning) using the curbs. The guys with LSD's climb all over them! I have lots of questions too but I trust the racers that insist that I do what ever it takes to get one. So I'm in like .... Flynn, Flint and whoever came before.

If i finish work tomorow early i should have tonnes of time to give him a call. Cali is like 3 hrs behind us, so it will be like lunchtime over there
I will definetly post back what he says.
I wish this thing could come sooner, today, took one of my buds that hasnt seen the car yet, for a spin in it... Darn wheel spin!
lol. Plus i still have sluggish when warm probem, gotta replace the IC pump and intake temp sensor soon too.
This is gonna be a fun toy!

Yay, put me on the list, im all ordered up and ready to go!
Talked with Devon, great guy, he knows his stuff.
He answered all my Q's. And oh man this thing is gonna be a awesome upgrade on our cars!
Incase anyone else was wondering. This LSD should not affect our TC system and ABS. I asked him and he said they have had no problems with it on other vehciles that have TC. Once i started thinking about it, it all made perfect sense to me. Standard TC works by applying the brake to the spinning wheel and pulling back on the throttle (only if it senses a fixed difference between the rotational speed of the 2 rear wheels in our case), you know how sometimes "rarely" you get both wheels spinning just perfectly and TC never kicks in.(i dunno about the Xfire if it senses rear wheel speed and comaires it to the front wheel speed) but i know on my dads charger, if you get it just right, she will spin for a long while (and the TC system on that is a bit of a "fun ****" as well. lol - its a benz system as well). With the LSD, the TC will barely kick in, or never kick in at all depending on how you launch and have the LSD set-up.. because both wheels would be reletively close to the same rotational speed; Due to the LSD. This will also save on brake wear as well
As for some of the other q's they will have answers for us once they get to try it out on the test car.
Should be fun, Cant wait, this will be a nice christmas gift to myself
and for others too!
Heres a nice review of the differental used on a vw. He gives good detail on how it works on pavement, and wet/slick conditions

krazy / buggin,
any update from Devin on this?? It sounded like we were close last week... do they have all the parts to make a decision yet?

Stick with it Mike. I've lifted a rear wheel on a curb under power during a timed event and the car went crazy and ended in a spin. I, for one, need a LSD that doesn't act stock if a wheel looses all traction. That's the reason I stayed away from the Phantom Grip and Quaife. I'ts better to wait for the right parts. At least that's how I look at it.

i have some part # that im going to try and locate and see if they will work. if anyone can source a circlip .100 to .120 thick with a flat inside surface this should end the problem. i would happily pay for a few of them to send to devin to try.
I voiced my concern with Devin also. I've already told him, if they wait much longer, people are going to start looking elsewhere/working different solutions. They need to start this prototype now!

I'm going to be in L.A in 2 weeks time, near where devin is in Anahiem if this is still going to happen im in, I'll personally drive out and make the payment to Devin, our dollar is a fraction from matching the US dollar so it's a good time for me!

If you guys can pm me exactly what we are looking for, I have shops all over Gasoline Alley here in Indy, as well as O'Reilly Park area....that's all they do is build race cars from Indy, NASCAR, and NHRA...would be glad to look, but I am not sure what you are looking for. Are these ring clips, just PM what they are...
