Unfortunately, the movers are here today and I never got my diff back from them. Granted it's 3.27 geared for an N/A, but it was brand new and I paid $600 for it. Kinda sucks.

My SLK is in the shop getting both motor mounts and tranny mount changed today after going to the drags on Friday night. I'm starting to think I need to build a dedicated race car instead of beating on my daily driver... lol

 

Buggin, you could just buy an SRT6 for your racing.....

Did you call Devin and give him an alternate address to return your diff to? At least you will know where it is later.....

 

I will be glad to get this mod behind me...so I can finish the coupe...everything is on hold for now....just waiting....the car looks good Mikey...do you miss the other one....Buggin' I had to do that...my coupe is my racer, the roadster is for play...if Mikey here hadn't have happened onto bad times, he would be doing the same as well....good luck w/ your new assignment Buggin....keep us safe...

 

Has anyone seen a charge for the deposit on they cards yet? I havent....I thought they were going to do it a week ago.... mostly just curious.......

 

No. I think it is poor that they called, said they were going to run my card and mail me a receipt for the deposit and then didn't follow thru with either. On the bright side I am glad they didn't as it sounds as if they do not have the prototype to a point where it is ready to be produced, otherwise they would have started running cards by now.........still standing by.....real sports cars are supposed to have a LSD, not an open diff.

 

Yeah, it won't hurt my feelings if they don't charge me until after Christmas.

Ok, here is the scoop,, every thing is a go and the diff should I said should be ready be the end of January 2011, Devin has tried to call everyone so he can take the deposit,, there are a few that Devin could not contact, if they would call him at 1-800-622-4327

i couldnt agree more! about a month earlier i contacted autotech to try to get this built and they werent interested. it was allen who got the ball rolling and shipped parts at his expense to the shop. along with jim and rudy this is slowly taking shape. as for me im just trying to help any way i can and keep the thread alive and folks informed!

 

What exactly is the "group rate" price for 1 of these units? And can any mechanic install one? or does it have to be a specialty shop?

the price is $1050 for the unit plus shipping. unitrax will install the unit in your carrier for approx. $225 plus shipping both ways. any mechanic is a loaded question!! lets say any qualified mechanic should have no problem with the install. critical things are the same for any diff backlash and spacing along with ring gear to pinion teeth wear should be checked.

i would like to add that there are 4 or 5 who said they wanted the unit and have not returned devins call for the ok to charge the card. if you wanted the unit please call him. at last call the # of units for the intial run is greatly reduced. from 30 to 50 units to the amount of paid deposits and maybe 2 to 5 more. no word on the availability of more units once this run is complete. i know theres changes and contradictions to the prior posts and i encourage anyone who wants this to get in now as the cutoff date is fast approaching

Seriously, considering that this work started a good while back, I had
thought that I would have to miss out, as funds were a little limited. But,
now that it is near the end of the year, I've found a little money freed up
and was quite happy that this deal was still open.

So, don't procrastinate too long. I've a feeling that whatever units are
left from the first production run may be all that will be available, and I
suspect the price for those will be at least half again as expensive as is
the group buy.
