insurance
I have a couple of cars insured by Grundy collecrtor car insurance. I called them today for a quote on an SRT6 roadster and they do not consider it a collector car and will not underwrite the policy.
Getting insurance in the normal market will be scary expensive. What have you guys done?

I am paying $226 per year for both the 1976 eldorado conv with $20K replacement value and and Mustang 5.0 conv w/ $10k replacement. If you can qualify for true collector insurance, it is stupid cheap.
All State quote me $520 w/ $1000 deduct... not horrible but not as sweet as the grundy insurance I have on the "collector" cars...

I tried getting Ins on my Chevelles and some the restrictions were unrealistic.
HAVE to park in a garage.
CAN NOT leave car unattended (parked at store while you go inside).
Mileage restrictions

Talked to the underwriter @ Grundy and they will not insure the SRT6 for two reasons. They do not see the vehicle @ car shows and/or the value is not going up. To give you an example of the savings, the collector rate for a 1998 mustang cobra convertible with agreed replacement value of 15k is $220 per year.
You guys need to get those SRT6's in more shows and get some visibility...

I have Hagerty for both my N/A , SRT and my 82 Firebird with no milage restrictions, they have to be garaged and you must have a daily use car, They consider the Crossfire exotics. For all 3 cars I'm paying $700:00 a year.

I'm sure it depends on what state/city you live in with "USAA". I have zero Tickets, accidents, zero claims and a high credit score. I have Farmers on my house and 3 vehicals and USAA was $1300 more on the House (same/same) coverage and $350 - $400 more on all the Veh's. a year, So I stayed with farmers hands down - USSA referred me (while I was on the phone they switched me) to "American Collectors Insurance" $553.00 year ( BUTTTTTT) you can only drive to car show's and max of 2k miles a year (no driving to work, church, get fuel, get repaired etc etc etc) I think that your not even "aloud" allowed to FART in it. (it does happens!). All the other companies where more or would not even talk to you about an SRT-6. SOOOOO it really is luck of the draw

I don't understand how insurance in NEW YORK can be so reasonable.
I was/am paying $840 a year for the Roadster and the (now gone) 12 year old pickup and thought I was doing well. And that's with discounts for two vehicles, good credit, and the use of a company vehicle (no commuter miles, but on the other hand - no mileage restrictions.)
For some reason USAA is DIRT CHEAP in GA. My Sister and Her Husband have them and along with there missed guided son and Pay very low rates compared to New Mexico, Mo. and CO.. with them, Like I said they Love Different States more than others,,,,,Don't figure
A friend also has USAA and after the following incidents they still didn't drop him.
Daughter totalled one car.
Daughter wrecked another car.
Son hit and run killed a guy on a motorcycle.
Wife wrecked the front of her new car.
Wife wrecked the rear of her new car (think he paid this out of pocket)
He hit a coyote, claim
He hit a rabbit, claim
Try that with any other ins company!

And as far as the Hagerty Insurance there isn't a mileage limit but if you do get into an accident you better be able to prove your going to a show or your mechanics.

I pay the following:
1. XF SRT6 Coupe $409 a yr
2. XF SRT6 Roadster $423 a yr
3. 2010 Mazda 6 S $411 a yr
4. 1999 Chevy Tahoe $333 a yr (ouch!)
5. 1998 Suzuki X-90 SUV $580 a yr PL/PD only (son' car)(3 tickets)
My dailey driver is the old Tahoe and it seems out of line, but it is a big old vehicle. My son's new ride is rare as well, like our SRT's...and his speeding problem certainly didn't help. I have the following coverage:
Liability: $250 per person/$500/ACC
Medical: $5M/Person
Uninsured: Same as Liability
Physical Damage: $500 deductable for comp/$1000 collision
Road Service
Hope this helps.....and it is with ERIE....I shop this every 2 yrs...my home is with them as well, a little more discount. They counldn't match the motorcyle insurance. It is with Progressive.
