Default Traction Control/ABS Help

So I cannot figure this one out if my life depended on it. My car is having some serious issues. When driving with the traction control on, the front right brake will apply itself and try to stop the car. As soon as, the BAS light goes on the car drives normal. When driving with the traction control off (which is the only way I can drive the car safely), the traction control light will begin flashing, as if the car thinks it is breaking loose, and I will get the BAS light as soon as the brakes are applied, but not before the ABS tries to engage for no reason. Again once the BAS light is on the car drives fine, other than the fact that the traction control remains on. The car has 26k on it. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

If you are truely interested in having the traction control and brake assisted steering my ques would be to find a good mechanic that can diagnose the problem.

If your like me i get a little feint of heart when my car tries to steer itself or even worse the system goes wonkers and causes you to get into an accident.

I had a similar issue with mine 3,000 mi after i purchased it and after 2 weeks of BS from 2 dealerships i decided to figure out how to disable the ESP/BAS. And decided I was better off not praying the ESP/BAS worked properly at the worst time.

I made a step by step picture procedure for disabling the yaw sensor for Waldig or any other members who wish to drive thier vehicals without any interference. This along with simply turning off your traction control button does this without disabling your ABS system.

You will still see the flashing traction lights on the dash give you warning blinks when your experiencing any loss of traction near the limits. "example oversteer around a corner or rear tire spin from too much throttle" which is nice because it let you know if your driving to close to the limit or giving to much throttle.

If it was my wife i would just make her take a defensive driving course (whether it be profesional or just you and her in a big empty parking lot getting the car loose and getting it back undercontrol) and drive the car without the computer assisted steering.

But if you are still under warranty i would get this resolved just incase you wish to sell the car in the future.

No warranty for me . I will follow your instructions, as I have wanted to disable the TC anyways. I would, however, like to fix the stupid car still on top of it so I can sell it one day.

Also, what happens when you do not turn of the TC?

Nothing the TC only engages based off front tire spin vs rear tire spin. It has nothing to do with any left or right movement. Its just launch control for dummies so you dont roast tires from a stop. Causes the rear brakes to clamp down. You can leave it on it wont hurt anything. The TC will still function like normal on. I just always had mine off, unless it was raining or snowing. It can be helpful then.

Now keep in mind the TC(traction control) BAS(brake assisted steering) and ESP(Electronic skid protection?) are all seperate in how they use the brakes to controll the vehical. Steering in the case of BAS/ESP and reducing rear tire spin in the case of TC.

Unlpugging the yaw sensor essentialy disables the BAS/ESP because input from that is used to correct your steering inputs by applying varrying degrees of braking power to all 4 corners. DOes that make sense?

ProjectMayhem,

All you did was unplug the yaw sensor, correct? Your car did NOT go into limp mode after doing this, well after unplugging it and then driving the crap out of it?

Cheers,

No limp mode just the ESP light on the dash. I think a few other members did this as well without any limp mode issues.
