CTS-V is extremely nice.

Apparently so is the C63.

So I am aware that I can land a CTS-V for lets say 60k optioned the way I want.

Also I believe GM recently was offering Zero percent interest for 6 years or less. I'm sure everyone agrees that FREE money is the best kind.

Now how much is that C63 again? And if I had to finance after a 30% downpayment what would the interest charge be on a 4 year loan?

Total of c63 + 4 years of interest after 30% down.

= ?

I'm gonna go on a limb here and say that the C63 is simple as someone said...... simply the wrong choice for my money.

Bob build it and find out. BTW if you can get 0% financing on a Cadillac I'm sure you can get pretty damn close on a Mercedes. What's even better is the resale value later in life.

Oh absolutely. I am still a kid by most people's views (everyone but the law ) and I am totally with you on that. I don't want more than 2 seats in my car. I want something low and fast and fun. The crossfire is as big a car as I want right now.

But the people who are usually looking at the cts-v are not people looking for pure speed. They want something fun, but they also want something big for the family.

It all depends on what/who you are shopping for.

That's funny, I happen to have one of the fastest Srt roadsters on the planet running constant 11:40 1/4 mile. Dec.8th I probably will have the fastest when I make three runs with 75# N2O. I'm the original owner with almost 40,000 miles on it. It would also be nice to have an everyday 11sec. grocery getter!

With all this loyalty and enthusiasm for our X-Fires, even with the lack of resources for parts (except parting out cars) why is the resale so low? When I bought mine (New 3/06) it was a showroom floor queen and I paid almost $40k for it.

You Sir have a great sense of humor, I almost fell out of my chair laughing… Turbonator priceless

Don’t get me wrong I would love a MB but what I want (E63) and what I can afford are two different things C63 AMG would be a step down for me when looking at power and future upgrades. I can pick up a 2011 Raven Black CTS-V today for $64k purchase the Hennessey CTS-V V700 Upgrade for less than $10K. and have a sleeper not even my SRT-6 could catch without a 75# shot. I'm still looking around though and open to suggestions.

Thanks again

Glad I could make you laugh lol. You missed the thread where I explained the low monthly cost for all those goodies.

The E63 is a different class to the CTS. That's why I changed the comparison to include the M3 rather than the M5. Just wait a couple of years and get the MB, it looks so much better anyway

If you're looking for right now, I'd go with the M3. I'm biased though, I really hate GM products.

I know I will get flamed here for this, but what is wrong with you guys? Only 1 or 2 people made mention of the fact that you can not get the MB with a manual. The thought of having 500+ hp and no clutch is a sad day.

Jim, while I agree with you, there is absolutely no data to show these numbers in the XF, yet. As you are very aware, there are rear end issues and the car still has not been flogged on a track.

Build Your Own AMG - Customize Your High-Performance Package | Mercedes-Benz USA
Thanks. I built a Comparable C63 for 68k... The Biggest option is the Performance package.

I skimped on the full mutimedia suite but thats about 2k more.

I'm impressed that you can get this car for 68k or approx 8k more then the CTS-V.

I would have guessed 80G's for the nameplate and especially the AMG version.

Guess I should stop looking at SL65AMGs lol. They are only 198k

Well you changed this persons mind. I believe a thorough review via Test Drive and careful analysis is in order if your CTS-V shopping.

Thanks again

Man, all this opinion about interiors being sh*t or nice and this isn't even in the "other vehicles" forum...

It's well known in design theory that the greater the user's involvement in the operation of said object, the less the user pays any notice to the aesthetics of design. In example, when you're flogging your M5CTSVAMG down the freeway, you won't give a damn what it looks like inside. But of course you can admire it when you come to a stop or get pulled over.

Can't we all agree that within this price range, we're looking at world class interiors from all manufacturers?

Just to add my worthless opinion... I'd go for the late model E55, tuned to the point of puckered-*******-on-demand, while saving 30k.

The wagon but I hope they don't do anything with the SRX but cancel it, looks like a damn overpriced equinox.

I hope not. THe S.O. just picked one up and it is NICE. I have never seen such an interior in a car before. But it's definitely not a driver's car.

The only thing I can fault it on is that it's fwd drivetrain has a surprising amount of lash.

See this is why I posted this question in SRT6 instead of the “other car” threads , everyone has a valid opinion that I needed to hear.

It’s a difficult decision to make when your wife has new car fever and you first sit in a car with that new car smell (it’s like a drug or something), it can completely take control over you. Especially when the conversation goes from “honey when are you going to give me the crossfire to… have you seen the 2011 cars, it would sure be nice to have back seats!”

What I can tell you is the interior might not mean allot to some of you but Damn if the stereo doesn’t sound better than systems I used to pay $$$$ to have installed plus the Recaro seats, Blue tooth and steering wheel controls are nice as well.
I looked into performance upgrading for the C63 and I’m not very impressed with what’s available for the price, everyone knows what $10k will give to a Supercharged LS9 Engine!!!
The E55 now that’s another story and I really forgot about them. While I was at Eurocharged they were tuning a E55 I believe 350+HP with over 500lbtq.was on hand. I totally overlooked this car thanks for bringing it into the mix. The savings would really be nice since I’m building a GTM Supercar.

Thanks Guys, I really appreciate your patience with this thread!

I will need a little help with one more question before killing this thread…
How do you talk a women with new car fever into a slightly used E55?
nevermind I know the answers i'll probably get

Thanks again.

I had the good fortune to test drive (flog) the CTS-V coupe around Palm Beach Intl Raceway a month or so ago with a Skip Barber instructor in the passenger seat. This car is incredible. It does everything that you ask it to do, very nice interior - equal to or better than the European competition. Also - the CTS-V set the sedan world record for lapping the Nurburgring - beating out the M5 and the MB AMG. So this car is no slouch. I also was able to speak with John Heinricy (he's the GM engineer who helped to design this car and he is also the driver who set the 'Ring record) regarding the intent of the car. Beating out the German competition was the goal.

I will be purchasing one in 2011.

Colin,

With a few grand into an E55 you can get those bad boys to over 500whp...That's no slouch at all. EC just did 180.5mph in a 55k car at the Texas Mile. Can't complain about that.

As for talking your wife out of new car fever into favor for a 2006 E55....just offer to give her a shopping spree to accompany the car. I mean you would be saving $30k, so giving her a few grand for whatever she wants will ease her pain.

p.s. I also vote E55 > CTS-V.

Hell right now you can do E55 + SRT6 for the price of a new CTS-V.

There are plenty of E55s out there right now with under 30k miles for right around $30k.

Win! I check now and then for E55's for sale in the area and this seems to be about right.

If I had a need to haul more than one other passenger around, I would probably have a fast four-door.

Make sure it's meticulously detailed and throw some jewelry in there? Good luck if you decide to go that route. Let us know how it works out because I'll probably be in the same boat in a few years!

I keep my eyes peeled on E55s for sale. I am planning on purchasing a E55 within the next 6-12 months to have a daily driver to replace the SRT...Seeing as I can't fit more than one person (and a dead body) in my car at a time.

The last year for the 5.5 SC motor is 2006 and to find one with a current warranty that can be extended may be tough. It's still technically 4 years old through december. Not sure when the cutoff for adding 5 more years of warranty on it can be done. I don't think anyone wants to own one without a warranty. Or at least not expect to pay big dollars if something goes wrong. The air system, fuel tank leaking, are among the common issues with the E55.

Yeah i know most of the common issues, and I would only buy this if/when I move to Houston. Having Eurocharged and Motorwerks down there is a great way to keep things running right.

...but yeah, an extended warranty may be worth it, but if I can't get one put on, then it's not as big of a deal to me.

Either way, it is a great car. Though the new 5.5TT M157 engine they are beginning to use now seems like it will be an absolute monster once the tuners get a hold of them for a while.
