Default SRT-6 Pricing

Hello,

Never posted here but thought I would try/ask. Been looking for an SRT-6 for some time (1yr) but now have found one and can't shake not having it. It's a 1 owner (Chrysler Exec) Gray SRT-6 convertible, 1,000 miles just like buying new but 5-6yrs old. Never seen bad weather ever, and sits in heated garage under an SRT-6 cover with promo luggage and carpets are still covered. All paperwork dealer/invoice magazines build sheets etc (even picked this one out while being built. The price 32k... It won't be sitting around if/when I get it. Just some advice (maybe people that bought new) is this too much to justify for a 5+ yr old car, but just like looking back in time at the showroom (it does get started and driven and even has had an oil changes). I do see many with 10-20k on the clock for 10k-15k less $$ 2 owner cars? But new is what I like...

Thanks for the insights!

DO NOT PAY THAT MUCH! You can find ones with CPO warranties until ~2012 for under $19k. There are plenty of these cars out there in excellent condition, don't let the age of the car fool you. Look at the mileage, the history (search on here if it's been "abused"), and the actual condition of the car. My advice, keep looking.

IMO, the car as you have described it is worth no more than $25K, and that would be on the extreme high side.... Paying a big premium for the like new condition, and documentation. It is sad, but also reality. Low mileage clean SRT Roadsters can be had for $17 - $20K all day long. For $35K, you can buy 2 SRT Roadsters with less than 30K miles on them. I paid $18.5K for mine a little over a year ago, and it had 22K miles on her at the time. I now have 26K miles on her.

I was drooling as I was reading your description of the car, and would love to own a pristine example like that, but not for that price.

Good luck.

as 'they' say in the collector car (of which srt-6's are) business, it's worth what the seller can get for it. provenance is important and i'd be surprised (not shocked) if a 'daimler/chrysler exec' really called this one out. is the solid, unassailable history of the car is worth 10k to you?...then do it. otherwise, i'd go through the usual motions and give them 22k.

You found a true treasure! It sounds like the Chrysler exec was holding onto in anticipation that the value would hold up much better than they did. If you plan to really drive the car, try to negotiate him down to maybe $24k as you'll find much better deals on higher mileage used ones. If your plans are to keep it as a garage queen, it's not a bad price IMHO.

I paid 27k for my 2005 SRT coupe brand new in 2007 and have no regrets. I think you need to look around at what the 32k would buy and decide if the SRT is what you want to drop that amount on.If this is the one for you consider making an offer in the mid twenties. You can always go up. Another option to consider is buy a clean n/a and have Rudy and Paul drop a 5.5 supercharged V8 in there for about the same money.Good luck!

Mine was the same as yours 1 owner chrysler corporate lease, immaculate condition with only 5,000 miles on it. Couldn't find one rock chip! I payed 23k out the door after purchasing a aftermarket warranty until 2013.

I gladly paid 25K for my Black SRT6 roadster in July. Condition very lightly used. That was half price of new. my 1965 Sunbeam Tiger is insured for 40K. They made 6000 of them. I paid $4000 in 1985. car is very original. I did not overpay the SRT6. Very lucky to find it. Have not seen one like it offered since. It is an investment.that's fun to drive. Gary

I paid $19,655 in April for a coupe with 917 on the clock---perfect car with new battery and fresh oil. $32,000 is way high. I wanted low miles too but taking a $10k+ bath is a bit much. I looked for 6 months so good luck!!!!! Jimmy

If your plan is to cover this car with cosmoline and wait twentyfive years for a Barret Jackson evening, pop the $32K.

If you plan to drive your SRT-6, look elswhere.

There are low milage virginal 'verts around for less than $25K. And decent, mid milage ones you can drive without the worry of depreciation under $20K.

Buy one right and drive it like you stole it.

That Sunbeam Tiger is a good looking car you have there. What is it like driving\performance wise?

Like my 750 Norton .Operate With care and exuberance. More power than brakes or tires. My Crossfire SRT6 and Triumph Rocket 3 obsoleted both. Gary

As long as you are careful and looking good who cares about obsolescence, still a good looking car!

Agree with most others here. Seems really high to me, especially if you are going to drive this car...........which you SHOULD.

Not the exact situation, but I bought an 04 Coupe in August with 5K miles on it. Never been driven in snow or rain, garage kept, etc. It actually had a few months warranty on it too (which ended up saving me some money) I paid $13 for it. I'd expect if you find a 05 SRT6 with that mileage you'd pay between 6-8K more than one with similar mileage and similar condition.

Also, cars don't necessarily do well just sitting. 200 miles a year is pretty low and while it's nice to get a low mileage car, you can have issues with seals, tires gas going bad in the tank and fuel system, etc. which may end up causing problems.

Anyway, good luck with you decision.

I forgot to mention. I drive the car all over the Country to Sunbeam meets. From Alabama to Wisconsin then to Niagra Falls. Am going to do it with Crossfire. A band of brothers without guns, just cars. Gary

Thanks for all the replies/insights. He will not budge on price, I think he will have it for some time before coming to reality. He did say prior that he had others interested but after backing out and suggesting he go with the others, he recanted by suggesting I call back if I change my mind. That's a good indicator no one else was willing to pay that price. Thanks again everyone on this, I have my eye on one in CO. but will wait for more pics/vin to decide if I want to travel.
