I wonder if it is the BCM. Generaly when it fails the car simply won't crank and start. Pull the fuse on the alarm system.

Ok heres what happened
I woke up in the night by my srt6 coupe alarm going off. I went outside, made sure everything was ok and then thought - ok, it was the weather.. went back to sleep
but then this happened a few times. Then over the next few weeks the car alarm would go off in the car park at the mall etc etc .. until it would start going off, upon locking. So right now, to stop this happening, I have to lock on the key remote, go up to the driver door, stick the key in, unlock, open door, shut door then press remote lock again then the alarm doesnt go off - but its a lot of hassle everytime i leave the car sooooo
I took it to a diagnostic centre and they said the body control module needed replacing, so I took it to chrysler uk dealership service centre and they want $1,900 dollar equiv for the part and the labour to do it. so thats why I am here. no BS .
I came here for a cheaper solution or maybe ideas xx

I think it is more likely the alarm system or a component of it. But the Battery seems to be a recurrent source of problems in these cars.
Although they are not related, I have a Jeep with a similar issue and it is not the BCM but the alarm system. I cannot get into the car without using the remote to say "Hey, it's OK. I'ts just me getting in the car.
Weird.
But on an old Cherokee, just not worth the cost to repair.
No offense but your problem may be related to your 34E's. Some guys just think you are a babe and will not consider that you may be intelligent and want to know something about the car you are driving.
I don't know cr@p compared to some here. You need to talk to Woody or Rcompart. PM them and perhaps they can talk you or your mechanic into a more sensible solution.

I am aware things had gone off topic...lol
I had the battery tested and they said it was ok and didn't need replacing. Maybe to be sure Ill go out and get a new battery
Sure I know nothing about cars - but I have a degree in auto engineering (true) spent 3 years being the only girl in class (true) but this still doesn't protect me from the stealership bills!! xxx
I love my bully fire. (its nick name) It kicks up dust and spits it over almost everything with FOUR wheels. Two wheels - forget it! - I really want to keep it - the sales issue came up because I was worried it would be the beginning of the end (like that house in the movie MoneyPit)

They are the"best engineered cars in the world." Which is arguably true, but they are built with the same bean counter cheap parts as many lessor cars. The BCM in some cases, is just fragile.
But the Crossies are not lemons, or money pits. Any more than the comparable Benz 320 slk would be.
I have owned Benzes for many years and find one cannot visit the dealer for less than a grand. But, you seldom need to go to the dealer because they are well built cars.
Assuming prices in the UK reflect prices in the US, you bought your SRT for about 1/2 of what it should be worth. It is after all, an AMG Benz. Get past what it is worth on the market and remember what it is worth intrinsicaly. You will never find a meaner street legal car for the money hands down.
And generaly they don't break down often. It just pinches the wallet when they do.

BTW your 2006 is a rare year for the SRT. Congrats on the find.

Thank you!
You see I thought the only part of Benz was the chassis and V6
Actually when I bought it, I thought "you my son, are gonna be with me until I sag" and I hope that vow holds - how long have I got? another 5 yrs maybe?
Sure its juicy, sure the 12 month road tax is equiv to $700 but SRT6 is the best car yet.. better than my SL600 V12 by a long shot
Thank you! I can now SLEEP! XX

Well said Mr. Rauscher. And moynah, thank you for explaning the details so others can help a little better. Hope it is an easy fix. I just cringed thinking someone would give up their X without a definate diagnosis. Don't be so easy.
jk / lol Good Luck w/ the fix. Edit: Isn't it like 1:20a.m. over there?
The time sir? Yes indeed you are right. 01:40AM Im just finishing off some office work - nice to see I can check out this page in the meantime.
Now all I need to think of is my 'SRT project faster'
I really want to get this car down to 4 seconds 0-60 .. but dont know where to start, without NOS
I hope new battery works out in meantime XXX

moynah, check out this thread for additional info on Alarm/Siren issues:
https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...dle-night.html
There are any number of items in the Security System that could be faulty or intermittent (bad switch) that could arm and trigger an Alarm.
If it was me, I would first lean towards a battery replacement (a simple move).
Then move on and change the actual Siren unit (a little harder to replace, but not a deal breaker).
A battery should run less that $100 and the Siren can be found for around $60 (US of A dollars).
A small investment before you break the bank for a BCM (or ditch the car because of an Alarm horror show)...
Good luck and post any updates on how it goes...
From the manual page 1,215...
'ALARM TRIPS ON ITS OWN'
Possible Causes:
FALSE GLOVE BOX SWITCH SIGNAL
FALSE LIFTGATE LOCK SWITCH SIGNAL
FALSE HOOD AJAR SWITCH SIGNAL
FALSE LEFT DOOR AJAR SWITCH SIGNAL
FALSE RIGHT DOOR AJAR SWITCH SIGNAL
FALSE IGNITION SWITCH SIGNAL
FALSE BRAKE LAMP SWITCH SIGNAL
FALSE ANTI-THEFT TOW SENSOR SIGNAL
INTERMITTENT CONDITION
For a complete Vehicle Theft Security System Circuit Diagram, Refer to Page 8Q-44.

Thank you for the above.
The very nice guy who did the diagnostics on the BCM has just wiped and re-set BCM, and so far, no alarm noises or light flashes.
So I will delay battery purchase.
If I come back very angry (not that I am ever angry), it will mean that the battery fix has failed, and Im still being disturbed during my very important shopping expeditions (!) by my Bull screaming and kicking out for no reason in the car park.
BTW - a sideline comment - how jolly easy is it to whip these X-fires round? WOW, even when trying to drive STRAIGHT
enormous Fun! xxx

enormous Fun! xxxThird button from the left under the radio. Be sure you have room side to side as you have an open rear end drive. Takes some naughty bits to hold on. Might want to pay your insurance first.
Enjoy

BTW, if the dealer has a Crossfire trained mechanic and the program, he can reflash the BCM. Assuming the Module is OK. So why did he not do that to begin with? Tell him you may be smashing good to look at but you aren't stupid.
