Hi Guys,
I am just about to buy a Black SRT-6 Roadster, VIN 5X058846, but I can't seem to find it on the database? I have double-checked the VIN Plate and the body number is correct?
Or am I just going "Cross-eyed" from looking?
Cheers,

Your VIN# was not on the list, theis is the first time we were made aware of the number, color and type. Thanks for the information, this forum is a great tool, since most dealerships are limited in their knowledge. Use the search button, its your best friend.....
Your information will be added and will appear at the next publish date.

Cheers and thanks Dennis, it is a great site - it is part of the reason I have bought an SRT-6..
I hear a lot of people quoting the figure of "928" SRT-6 Roadsters, where did this figure actually come from, was this a figure that was released by Chrysler or a number that just has become "folklore" amongst enthusiasts?
I tried to get some info from Chrysler Australia and their record keeping is quite poor. I am unsure how Companies such as Chrysler Corp, could be so poor at keeping records about the vehicles that they build, I thought it would be mandatory for Taxation, recalls, law suits etc etc to have every vehicle built to be accounted for "somewhere" in their systems..

The 928 Roadster and 2016 Coupe totals were obtained from Chrysler for 2005, with the total for 2006 as unknown.
Please remember, the Crossfire was the only car jointly built by Daimler-Chrysler at the Karmann factory in Germany, not in the USA. There must have been some kind of disconnect between Benz-Karmann-Chrysler.
We have the same issues with the dealer network here in the USA, this is the reason for this forum, collecting information about our cars and presenting the information from this forum to the dealership, when a visit is mandatory for service, when the dealer is unsure of the correct repair.
Search for the TSB thread for issues related to the Crossfires that may pinpoint the recalls.
Good luck with your SRT6.....

Thanks Dennis, you have made a lot of sense in regard to the build numbers..
I will keep advising of the SRT-6 Body numbers that I come across here in Australia too.. If every member does their "part" in building the Register, it will be the best factual document available..
Thanks again

Dennis:
on another thread, a potential owner is looking at a SRT6. Its listed as a SSB Roadster in the database (Not previously owned by a forum member) but when I looked at the photos, its definitely a AB Coupe.
VIN #47425 in the SRT database
error in the database?
link sent to you by PM.

Yes Adam, it was on the list. Did you notice the limited front bumper cover, must have been in an accident and it was replaced with the wrong cover...

The first 3 entries on the 2006 listing are not SRT-6 models:
61257 = Limited Roadster
61367 = Limited Coupe
61376 = Limited Roadster
Additional proof is confirmed via the full VIN's which show engine code "L" in slot 9 instead of "N":
1C3AN65LX6X061257
1C3AN69L36X061367
1C3AN65L76X061376
Yes. This is where it gets confusing as the numbers overlap - so there is no "exact" crossover point. Based on my research so far, 2005 models end with 61093 while 2006 models begin earlier - with 60753.
For example, notice how these 2005 and 2006 sequence numbers are mixed:
5X061050
5X061051
6X061052
5X061053
5X061055
5X061056
6X061058
6X061059
So 61051 is a 2005 model, 610252 is a 2006 and 61053 is a 2005. For whatever reason Chrysler decided to fill in unused 2005 sequence numbers on the 2006 builds. I noticed the same "overlap" a couple years back when I was working on some 2008 Crossfire numbers.
This is why I would highly recommend that you add the "5X0" and "6X0" prefix's to your database (easy to do in Excel). While there happens to be no "crossover" numbers for SRT6 models there are, as shown above, crossover numbers for non-SRT models. What I have found in working on other registry's is that you cannot always go by numbers that are provided by owners or other sources (like ebay, Auto Trader etc.) - they often make mistakes in numbers and model years.

Please look again at the lower portion of RS' thread, where he is referring to identifying future VIN#'s with a 5X0 or a 6X0 before the 5 digit number. The last numbers listed contain the 6X0 which equates to a 2006 VIN#, that are within the 2005 VIN#'s. There was no definitive break in the 2005-2006 VIN#'s. He is stating the 2006 SRT6's do not begin with the 641XX series as thought before.

In my database the last 05 SRT is 61045 (unknown color/Coupe-Roadster) and first 06 SRT is 64168 (SSB Coupe).
The very first 05 SRT pilot/test car is 11854 an SSB Coupe. I know of 4 other 05 SRT that fall in the 04 model year sequence.
I work for an automaker and we do the same thing, run sequential number regardless of model year.

Since RS' initial responses were directed at the SRT6 VIN# listing, I assumed those imbedded VIN#'s were 2006 SRT6 numbers listed within the 2005 series of VIN's in the last paragraph. I will remove those Limited VIN's today from the 2006 listing. I am no disputing any of the info he has supplied to date.
