GET CODES READ, And..... the RCM is a known problem and such an easy fix that you should just do it. If it fixes the issue great and if it doesn't then you at least won't have to worry about that issue raising it's ugly head in the future. And I'm kinda agreeing w/ others about fuel supply. I'm thinking that your mechanic who couldn't even read your codes may not have properly tested fuel pressure. Fuel pump/Fuel filter regulator/ is there gas in the tank? HA just joking around.

Dinasrt - You are right on the problem. The mechanic who originally looked at the car only checked to see that the fuel pump was running. He didn't check the pressure. Apparently the pump was not putting out adequate pressure, and that shuts the engine down and won't let it restart. The new fuel pump should be in tomorrow, so we'll see if that cures the problem. I sure hope so as it cost $490. I also picked up a new fuel filter. Of possible interest may be that the fuel pump was actually cheaper through a Chrysler dealer than it was from Mercedes. Same part, only $89 less from Chrysler! So I guess you can't always assume that the parts will cost less from MB.

Once I get the car running again and back home, I'll take your advice and do the fix on the RCM. Don't want to be stranded on the road again if I can help it.

Here's one that Rob @ Needswings sells for much less than an OEM pump. Walbro 255lph In-Line Fuel Pump + SRT6 Install Kit Edit: This is a direct replacement pump kit, with fittings. Good deal!

Good luck getting it all resolved.
