Default Advice needed!

Purchased my SRT6 about 3 months ago. Very nice car, yes, very happy with it. Well about two months ago, it would crank but no start. CPS, I assumed so I picked one up at the dealership, changed it out. The first time I started it, it died on me, thought it was a fluke so ignored it. A few days later, it cranks but no start. I tried to repair the RCM but kinda gouged it in the process of removing it. So i reinstalled it, didnt start, also no fuel. So I assumed because the car had been sitting for several months before I purchased it, that the fuel filter may be clogged. Changed that, it was in fact clogged. Car started but no throttle response, mechanic friend recommended the fuel pump which I changed, still a rough idle with no throttle response.

Eventually I finally decided to take the risk and purchase a new RCM from the dealer at a discounted price (lucky me) and the car started up no problem. Drove great for about a month, then yesterday I drove it a very short distance and it stalled on me six times. Car died and luckily started right back up when cranked. I tried it this morning and it starts fine, no problems that I can see. Now my question is, what could it be? I changed the battery as well two months ago.

Note, I have not soldered the RCM yet would that cause that?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check your fuel pressure to rule out the pump. You can get a cheapy test kit a Harbor Freight.

Sorry, I missed the part about changing the pump.

Dont apologize, I appeciate you taking the time to respond.

If it were the RCM solder points would it start up and then die?

I think it could. You might as well try it, it's easy to do and free. There is also a relay for the fuel pump on that board, I would emery or use a points file (way old school lol) and try cleaning up the contacts on all the relays as well as re-solder the power connections. Are you getting a CEL?

A new RCM "shouldn't" require any sanding on the points contact. I would hope the solder job could last more than 200 miles.. or they should have been lined up at the dealers for service when new.
Just my thoughts on that end of it.

gonna have a local Mercedes mechanic look at it in the morning. Drove it around the block a second time, with alittle more confidence and alittle further. No problems whatsoever. Decided the RCM was too new to crack open so will be waiting a few months to do that. Again, I believe it may have been the heat as it was sitting parked all day in the direct sun and it was recorded as the fifth hottest day on record. Hope this thread helps someone, if not let it get buried.

I dont know if anyone is keeping up with this thread but..... decided to drive it to dinner, then home. 15 miles all and all, much further than yesterday when the car stalled. Completely fine, so I gave her some words of encouragement and lets hope thats the end of that.

The numbers printed on the rcm boards have not been "noticed" or "logged", but when I got my car and found this forum, that was one of the first things I checked. I noted mine was stamped with an 07 series number and the one in the rcm thread has an 04. Mine looked great upon inspection. I later found a link to look up your vin for service history and noted that in 07 or 08 mine had a service for "electrical". I'm really thinking mine had been replaced with an updated "correctly soldered" module. Mercede's did a recall on their cars over them, so that alone tells me the problem was addressed and corrected on these boards. You still have your old one? And if so what is the stamped number end with.. 05?
