Default cooling fan running on start up

Recently on start up with the engine stone cold the coolant light comes on and the fan is running full blast. Although I have an extended warranty I want to avoid the Stealership as much as possible. So I'm thinking its either a relay or sensor because once the car comes up to temperature the light goes out and from then on it cycles on and off as intended. Has anyone had any experience with this issue and where can I find a schematic showing the proper relay and sensor I need to be testing. Thanks in advance peeps.

This is probably the fan control module mounted on the driver side inner fender under the hood.
Do a search on this part and see if the symptoms match.

If it cycles normal after warm up, then doubt it is the control module, but likely a sensor or relay as mentioned. The fan control module is going to control fan speed based on what something else tells it. Have not looked at schematics, but either ecu or body control module input for coolant may be at fault.
