Part 2 : PLEASE HELP MY CAR WON'T START AND I'M STRANDED
but then another says.....the devil is in the detail......
anyway - a shot of the China CPS which arrived today
No trademarks, insignias or numbers
I presume the bosch OEM has some markings/numbers.
I thought I'd fill everyone in on MissSilky's situation. I talked to her this morning and she is happily motoring along again! She found someone that checked the fuel pressure and discovered it was very low, of course he wanted to change the fuel pump right away for lots of $$. I suggested to her to have him check the voltage going to the pump which he didn't want to do so she decided to not change the pump yet. She told me that she took it somewhere else and they discovered that the fuel filter that was installed in Florida was the wrong part. A new filter was installed and so far so good. Just a reminder to everyone that the fuel regulator is integral to the filter too.

My thoughts to when I posted this a while back in this thread
Glad she's back running smoothy

When my car acted like this I had the fuel filter and pump changed and it fixed the problem for good

Especially when it is the wrong part completely. I don't know the details of what brand was installed in California but in Florida it was a STP branded filter. Obviously, when it isn't even the right filter for the vehicle, the mfr of the filter doesn't matter, the wrong part is the wrong part!
You have filters without the regulator that look the same. That is why you have to either do the work yourself, or at least supply your own parts, or take it to a known mechanic familiar with the car. These ******* children are a pain in the ***. I am in the middle of trying find info for wiring up up this damn zeitronics and its sucks with little direction. She's going to a shop before I screw something up. Corvette is starting to sound good again.
I'm looking to do the new SL55 pierburgh pump 7.00228.51.0 but was simply going to hook it up to the OEM filter (Mann WK-720) I bought from from autohaus.
Okay- so the WK-720 has an internal pressure regulator set to a specific value....(anyone know what value?)
So I hit it with some more grunt from the SL55 pump and .... I'm guessing as any pressure regulator would - it will simply burn off any excess and run it back to the tank.
If the demand arises (WOT & 21psi) there will be plenty of backup to keep the regulator in the filter from running out of puff.
Is this understanding sound?
and
If the regualtor is passing all that excess back to the tank - I'm guessing she's pulling some serious amps through the whole rpm range (spec sheet for 7.00228.51.0 says 16Amps at 300lph).
I cant recall what the stock one pulls but probably something around the 6-8Amps mark.
I'm guessing....check the wiring and fuse is okay hey.
I do recall somewhere someone had ran an extra wire...but not sure where I read it (could have been SL55 forum).
