Default Intake air temps high.

On my way home this afternoon, I got a high intake air temp alarm on my ultragauge. I turned the gauge to page 5 to monitor the temps and watched as they varied from 187 dropping down to 160+ then slowly rise to over 200 with no change in speed, a steady 55. I have the NW DCAI and modified manifolds woth no other changes to the intake system, could this be a problem with the supercharger intercooler or?????? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I would first verify your gauge is working properly. Then look at your intercooler pump. Sounds like your pump may be going out.

+1 on intercooler pump. $100 pump and easy DIY install.

I have to agree....unless there is an obstruction, and not likely, it is the pump. Nice to have the guage to know rather than a bucking car....

So, with a stock intake, what should the IAT range of temps be if everything is working properly. I figure that the outside air temps will affect the IAT, so is there a number above the OAT that one would look for when using a stock intake?

20 to 30º over ambient temperature. Mine run at 30º.

Thanks for the replies and I guess my pump is going, which is a surprise since this is the Johnson pump that I just installed last Sept. I will check the fuse and connections first, then a new pump. Anyone have a recommendation on the best replacement?

I used the updated Bosch because it was a plug and play and I didn't want toodify the bracket and the connector. It's been in about 15 months with no issues that I know of. That said - I don't use this car as my daily driver so I've only put about 5K miles on the pump (I think).

I've heard complaints about the Johnson burning out early on the MB place. I have the Bosch 010 and it seems to move the water pretty good.

I only have less than 4k on mine since last year, not my daily driver either.

I did notice the mention of this pump failing early on the MB forum and if I remember correctly, on our forum, there was a thread that proposed the theory that in operation, the Johnson didn't flow as much as was expected. Saying that, the Bosch would appear to be a good option. Thanks for the input, much appreciated.

Thanks, yeah I would expect them to be a bit below ambient at worst. Checked my fuse, OK, so tomorrow, I remove the wheel well liner and check my connections but it's looking like the pump. If this is as bad as it gets, I can live with it, I have had no other issues with the car so far.
