Default Hair Trigger gear selector switch + DIY appreciated

When I hit my "+" selector switch on the stick it seems to be on a hair trigger and sometimes not only goes up 1 gear but 2 or 3, sometimes through to D.
Has anyone had the same problem and managed to pull the shift apart and fix the switch?
I'd imagine the contactors have closed up too much and the gap possibly needs to be reset.

I pulled the selector apart in my SLK230 to fix a dodgy reversing light, but that's a mechanical linkage, whereas the SLK32 is an electronic link.

PS - the -ve switch is fine.

the switch is comprised of some contacts that slide across the PCB (see first link) there is a fairly complete set of instructions for disassembling the shifter in the paddle install instructions .
