Default How does one remove the interior heainer ?

Hi, dropped my srt6 off at a shop this morning to have the infamous headliner redone. Material is in;bought original fabric. I received a call from the shop stating " we have a problem" the heainer won't come out w/o taking out both seats and the passenger side small glass. I said hold everything and let me reach out to this venu. I did a search and really didn't fine much regarding the removal of the headliner. Can someone shed some light here. The shop says the factory most likely built around the headliner. Is this guy a hack? He has done work for me in the leg but it was regarding boats cushions etc. Thanks in advance!!

The headliner will come out without removing the seats and glass! It must come out the passenger side, put the seat all the way forward, then lean it as far back as it will go, then move it back until it just touches the bulkhead. It takes a little maneuvering but it will come out. Seeveral of us have done our own headliner replacement. Good luck.

I just recently had my headliner redone and they did not have to takeout seats or window glass, you might want to take it to someone else. Think he"s trying make some extra money off you!

I did what JEFASOLD described above. It took my son and I over half a dozen tries to angle it right to come out.

Hi, does the liner come out the passenger side as it is hung; with a little flex, or do you need to turn it etc. just trying to get an idea of the angle. I will end up taking it out and then work with the shop owner to get it back in and then he can work his magic and tuck everything in and trim it up.

No turning, it comes out oriented just the way it is. The front end is down, tilted slightly since the drivers side must clear the steering wheel and if I remember correctly the first part to exit the door is the tab in the back where the push pin goes in. It takes a bit of maneuvering but try to remember how it came out, so it's easier to go back in.

One thing to consider. Protect the top of the dash above the instrument cluster with a thick towel or blanket. Mine left some scratches in the plastic trim when I removed mine. I had a towel in the area but it moved and I didn't realize it.

We took it out with the front passenger side corner first. A very slight bending of the corner was required to get it past the A pillar. After that the remainder came out very easy.

I've had both done locally (opted to upgrade the thickness/quality of the headliner in the factory color) in my small farming town. The owner of the upholstery shop had zero problems taking the original out and installing the new. He said it's a straight ahead job. I'd be very wary of what your guy says.

Hi, thanks for the assistance. I took all the advice and brought my car to the shop. Under my direction thx to all the help from this forum. We were about to get the headliner out in 5 mins. Nice and easy and did not have to remove both seats and the small passenger side glass . Oyy lol thanks to everyone for the assistance. The shop will have the headliner ready when I go back this Friday.

++++++ Cover the dash!!!, Cover the Console!!!!! ETC. You will scratch a lot of surface things if not covered and removed carefully. I had mine done professionally and they did some damage. Not horrible, but if I had done it I would have done a better job of protecting it.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No window removal or anything else is required though!!!!!!
