Default SRT6 Just Arrived

For those of you who followed my earlier threads, I ordered my Crossfire in Sept. 2003 and did not receive it until April 2004. At the time I ordered it, I asked the dealer if they were going to introduce the car in a convertible, and they said no, not to their knowledge.

A month before my car arrived, I read an article announcing the roadster and was pissed that the dealer had such little information about the product line that I almost cancelled my order and bought an Acura NSX and was eyeing a 2003 Lotus Esprit dual turbo.

Before I picked-up the Crossfire, I again grilled the dealer about whether they were going to introduce another version of the car, perhaps with a larger engine, and again the answer was no, not to their knowledge.

About a month after I took delivery of my current Crossfire, I read an article in Road and Track announcing that the SRT6 was going to be delivered in July. Again, I was pissed. So, I ordered a black SRT6 and wanted one just like my Limited Edition, 6spd manual, grey / cedar interior, but again the dealer said "NO, NOT TO MY KNOWLEDGE". So I ordered a black / grey /auto which was supposed to arrive in late August.

Well, today is January 21st 2005 and the dealer just called me and said that the car has arrived and you can come in anytime and pick it up.

So this weekend, I'm going to Power Chrysler in Valencia, CA to look at the car, take it for a test drive that will make the sales rep. **** his pants when
I throw my crash helmet on and then ask him if the interior is ever going to come in grey / cedar and the car is ever going to have a manual transmission.

When he says "No, not to my knowledge", I'm going to pop my helmet on my head, turn off the annoying ETC and take this little sleaze bag for the test ride of his life.

When we get back to the dealership with his knuckles white and pants wet, and he asks me if I want this car too, or trade mine in, I'll just have to reply, "NO, NOT TO MY KNOWLEDGE".

PS: I'll post pictures.

Do it! I've been following the drama since I joined here. It'll be nice to finally have a resolution.

HDDP, you seem like a cool guy, but how can you go looking at a NSX and Lotus Esprit V-8 TT to a well a crossfire? The NSX and Lotus have looks that far exceed that of the XF and peformance, I'm sure you are well aware of the performance differences. Unless the extra cash, couldnt else see why not to do it. Especially since youre prolly the most avid racer here on this forum.

I may work in the entertainment industry, but I'm not filthy rich.. LOL The Crossfire was a good choice for a # of different reasons, the looks are terrific and the SCCA classed it in DS class with a bunch of japanese sport coupes, so I'm racing against other vehicles that are far inferior in a number of ways. The only drawback from my standpoint is that I didn't realize that there are very few high performance aftermarket parts for the car.

In about 6 months I'll be putting together a very aggressive team to campaign the Crossfire in SCCA events. This wouldn't have been finacially feasable for me with the NSX or Lotus, The only other Lotus that I would have been able to make seriously competitive in it's class would have been the Elise.

HDDP,

Whatever happened to testing the 2" bump stops with your Eibachs to see if it would eliminate the rubbing issues up front? You said you were going to test them Jan. 22-23. Did it work? I've had my Eibachs here for almost 2 weeks (still in the box) waiting for your track results before i do the installation. I'd like to do the install once and get everything dialed in right off the bat.

Also... i showed my father my XF Sunday nite. Monday afternoon he called me and told me he just bought a XF! We've both been into cars for a long time, and for the first time we're both into the same kind of car. It's gonna be a lot of fun working on our XF's together. I'm looking forward to it!

Sorry, I've been out of the loop for a week because of work. In answer to your question. Yes, the bump stops worked fine. Make sure you get the right diameter for the koni shocks and 2" in length. I have been a fan of "Energy Suspension" products for years. If you are keeping your OEM shocks then you will not need to replace the bump stops.
