R-Titled SRT
Re: R-Titled SRT
r- titled ? some states allows re titles,, some say salvage if u plan on keeping it forever go for it a retitle or salvage could mean flood even though the title is suppose to show if it is a flood car (if it is a flood RUN ) .
a salvage titled car is worth 1/2,,,,of the valve if it was not salvage.

Re: R-Titled SRT
Our head honchos name starts with a T as well, some may not like him and we may laugh at him at times but not all the time.

Re: R-Titled SRT
If you intend to buy any car with a branded title, you should check with your insurance agent to see if it's insurable for road use. I believe they may only insure the car for liability only, but that may be a specific insurance company decision. Considering all of the SRT6's in the market place to buy, why select this one? Purchase one without any title blemishes.
Just my 2 cents.....

And the real answer is first buy a good vehicle history (like Carfax) and find out why/where the incident occurred. This should also tell you what on the car was damaged. If it passes that test then a careful inspection and drive is advisable. Take a good Merc scan tool and check for buried codes. Put on a lift or a curb and check underneath carefully. Then make a decision. Of course that s because you needed to ask.
I just bought a running/driving Salvage/Rebuilt SLK230 with a five speed from CL simply because the price was so low (three digits) and cosmetics are good/no rust. I do need to go through the wiring and replace a lot of interior trim but no big. Is something I can put in the garage and spend a few months on it.
ps my collector policy had no problem adding it, just had to send some photographs.

Re: R-Titled SRT
I wish I could find a deal like that, finding a srt with under 60,000 miles for less that $12,500 seams to be impossible. People love these cars, as I do and they all want top dollar. KBB says they are worth $9000 but no one is selling them for that. At least not that I can find.
Re: R-Titled SRT
They do appear occasionally but you have to be quick.I just picked mine up for 5k with 71k.I have been watching for a srt6 on ebay and several car sites for a good year and a half and have only seen 2 others under 7k in that time but they were gone before I even called.I'm not at all afraid of a rebuilt title, one bad salvage story seems to scare everybody to death(and then all salv/rebuilds are bad),yet we barely hear about the clean title nightmares that happen all the time.Good luck

Check out this one . . .

I would love to buy it but currently have 5 SRT6s, working on two of them and simply don't have any more space for another one right now . . .
I ran a CarFax on it . . . No accidents / 3 owners / Photos look good / Good Luck!

Re: R-Titled SRT
you better want to keep it for a long time because most folks will run like forrest gump when you tell them or show them the title is flawed. a front end hit usually means the bags went off so be really careful that they just didn't put in a used unit regardless of whether it works or not. just something else to beware of.there are enough decent clean title srt6s out there i wouldn't screw with one seriously damaged enough to be totaled and rebuilt so it could be sold again.
Re: R-Titled SRT
Well, yes I bought it for $8000. Yes I plan on keeping it forever and having a lot of fun with it. I have put a few thousand miles on it now and it is great. I did have a few issues with it that I had to fix. The same issues everyone seems to have with these cars. The secondary water pump and the driver side engine mount. They where no big deal, I own a auto repair garage so easy stuff. The car runs true and alignment is good.So as far as me having my fears of buying the R title car are now gone. I know if I go to resell the car it will be and issue but I think this is one of my cars that will go to one of my grand kids, so they will have to deal with it when and if they want to sell it. But very happy to have a crossfire again and really happy that it is a SRT. Thanks everyone for your comments.
Re: R-Titled SRT
Farmers Insurance is one company that will not insure a Crossie with a salvaged title for comprehensive alone, no collision. I asked them for a quote on the Rescue SSB SRT6 and they told me that their report said "Severe Flood Damage" and that they wouldn't insure it. I asked them whos report added the word "Severe" to the description. They couldn't answer. Truth is that the car went through the State of Florida's $100.00 "inspection" and passed where they issued a new title, Rebuilt(flood). Not one use of the word "Severe" which is wasn't severe. I have put over 30,000miles on it with only an alternator issue. Water never entered the interior compartment of the vehicle. So, don't be afraid of the salvaged title but DO inspect the car before purchasing as previous posts have indicated.
