Re: Fitting replacement radiator with broken transmission lines
Thanks Zeracer,
There was a leak coming from a join on the exhaust, was clear in colour, i'm guessing this is water?
I've put about 2-3L of transmission oil in total cycling threw the gears as Zip suggested, tried to move forward and backward a little bit, it did move, however I had to give it high revs of 3-4k, haven't bought a dipstick yet so unsure of levels, but i'm guessing it will need a lot more transmission oil than the 5L I have.
Problem is it's in the garage on an incline, so letting it run will give me carbon dioxide poisoning if i'm not careful, and I don't want to bring it out of the garage incase I can't get it back in!
Re: Fitting replacement radiator with broken transmission lines
Ditto Zracer. You spilled trans fluid onto the exhaust. Burning off is normal with the smoke.
GET A DIP STICK BEFORE YOU SCREW SOMETHING ELSE UP!!!!!!!!!!! They are cheap on ebay.
DON"T move the car until you get the dipstick and the transmission fluid is at the correct level.
You keep going the way you are now and you will be replacing/rebuilding the transmission.
Re: Fitting replacement radiator with broken transmission lines
You might want to but a cheap box fan and face it so it evacuates the fumes out of your garage. I still wouldn't stay in there with the car running, but the faster the fumes are evacuated, the better!
