Number X - out of how many?
Hi guys,
I never liked how the engine placquard of the SRT-6 was left blank, where our AMG brother shows where the engine was built as well as the engineer who built it. Missed opportunity in my opinion.
I know in the past forum members made their own and I think they look very cool.
Trying to make a unique engine plate. But I have a question. Can I tell from VIN what # out of all SRT-6s mine is?
We have the production numbers but I'm wondering if the VIN can give away what number out of the total manufactured vehicles, the car is?
I doubt this, but Im wondering if anyone had luck writing to AMG and asking if they can provide them with a name of the engineer who built the engine?
I'm sure they still have that info somewhere.
Thanks for any insight.
Happy holidays,
Nick

Production numbers are here. I doubt if you will get any info from Mercedes as they do not acknowledge us. That is why the plaque is missing.

If you are only interested in knowing the engine build date and location the Mercedes owners forum might provide you with this information. Do not reference Chrysler they don't know what that means. This is the link to the forum https://mbworld.org/forums/ .
The Forum tab has a pulldown for AMG vehicles. I believe the SLK series Mercedes are the Xfire equivalents.

Second paragraph, third sentence : "Can I tell from VIN what # out of all SRT-6s mine is? " Hence the supplemental info.

That was my problem and I was hoping there would be some kind of de-coder. I bet somewhere in a folder at AMG plant in Osnabruck they registered who built our SRT engines (as in what engineer) but if the numbers aren't sequential on the VIN it will be hard to say this is model 284 out of 3000 for example. Unless I misunderstood the post above.
