Default Number X - out of how many?

Hi guys,

I never liked how the engine placquard of the SRT-6 was left blank, where our AMG brother shows where the engine was built as well as the engineer who built it. Missed opportunity in my opinion.
I know in the past forum members made their own and I think they look very cool.

Trying to make a unique engine plate. But I have a question. Can I tell from VIN what # out of all SRT-6s mine is?
We have the production numbers but I'm wondering if the VIN can give away what number out of the total manufactured vehicles, the car is?
I doubt this, but Im wondering if anyone had luck writing to AMG and asking if they can provide them with a name of the engineer who built the engine?
I'm sure they still have that info somewhere.

Thanks for any insight.

Happy holidays,

Nick

@DTMenace would be the one to ask. I've tagged him in my reply to you.

Production numbers are here. I doubt if you will get any info from Mercedes as they do not acknowledge us. That is why the plaque is missing.

It always surprised me that it was left blank. Daimler/Chrysler seemed like they put a lot of detail in other areas (Alcantara seats, SRT badging, the luggage, lots of accessories like the humidor etc and of course the utopic styling) so why not add something in that area? Couldn't have been expensive. Thanks for the production numbers. Much appreciated.

HERE IS YOUR ANSWER: Locate your VIN (example 1C3AN79N85X043534)
1 Country of origin
2 make C=chrysler
3 Veh Type3 = Pass Car
4 Other K =Restraint Sys Frnt/side air bags
5 Car Line N = Crossfire(LHD)P= Crossfire (RHD)
6 Series 5=Base 6=LMT 7=SRT
7 Body style 5=Roadster 9=Coupe
8 Engines L=3.2 N=Superchg
9 Security Verification
10 Model Year 5=2005 Model YR
11 Plant X=Osnabrueck Germany
12-17 Sequence Number 6 Digit Sequential Number Assigned By Assy Plant
Therefore the LAST 6 digits are your serial number and designate production sequence.
Here's the numbers for the math:
TOTAL CROSSFIRES; 76,014
TOTAL SRT COUPES 2571 / TOTAL SRT ROADSTERS 1500 / Absolute SRT6 TOTAL 4071
Crossfire Production Details.
2004 production- PDF

2005 production - PDF
2006 production - PDF
2007 production- PDF
2008 production - PDF
Production Figures - JPEG

If you are only interested in knowing the engine build date and location the Mercedes owners forum might provide you with this information. Do not reference Chrysler they don't know what that means. This is the link to the forum https://mbworld.org/forums/ .
The Forum tab has a pulldown for AMG vehicles. I believe the SLK series Mercedes are the Xfire equivalents.

In the original post he was asking about the factory engineer that hand built his SRT-6 engine.

Second paragraph, third sentence : "Can I tell from VIN what # out of all SRT-6s mine is? " Hence the supplemental info.

Unfortunately, the production numbers are not listed sequentially by model.

That was my problem and I was hoping there would be some kind of de-coder. I bet somewhere in a folder at AMG plant in Osnabruck they registered who built our SRT engines (as in what engineer) but if the numbers aren't sequential on the VIN it will be hard to say this is model 284 out of 3000 for example. Unless I misunderstood the post above.
