They fixed the cupholder... they broke everything else
Not sure where to post this but i'll do it here since the car's an SRT.
Here goes...
The dreaded cupholder finally broke. Took the car to a "5 star" Chrysler dealer in to get it replaced. As expected, they told me i have to come back since they have to order the part. Called them a few days and they said they have the part and to bring the car in. Left the car for a day to find out that they ordered the wrong part.
They apologized and said they'll re-order the right part. No problem, i said. Took it back this 7:30 am this morning and was given a warning that it might take 3 hours (???) to get it replaced. I said, no problem, i'll go to work and pick it up at the end of the day. Called the shop just to check up and service manager said car is done and it took till 3:30 pm (???) to get the center console put back.
I arrive 30 min before closing time and waited for my car. They pull out the car and they gave me the keys. Now here's when everything goes downhill...
I tested the cupholder and it works fine. I then noticed that the driver window switch was loose and window won't go up or down... I said, okay, i'll move my car out of the way so i can go back to see the service manager. I reach for the parking break handle and noticed/felt something definitely wrong... The sleeve that covers the bare metal is not there! I then proceed to drive the car forward and noticed my brake light in the dash on. Looked at the parking brake handle and it was down. Service manager checks out the car and couldn't believe the condition of my car.
First thing that came to mind is how the F@#! can something like this happen?! Do they think I'm such a moron that I wouldn't notice I can't put up my windows and the switch is broke and parking break handle is bare metal?
Well for one, no way i'm bringing this car to this shop again. I could just imagine what would happen if i go for a tranny problem.
So this 5 star designation, is this related to just sales or overall customer satisfaction?
Would like to hear from the Chrysler marketing people that visits this forum.
I have owned several cars from different manufacturers. By far, this is the worst car repair from a dealership I have ever experienced. Crap like this is what makes people by other brands regardless of how good the car is.
Any fellow Angelenos out here that can recommend a better dealership to get service repair?
Avoid this dealership at all cost unless your a glutton for punishment.

What a mess! I ordered a storage cup to replace my cup holder and did it myself in 20-30 minutes and it was pretty easy to do. I put a post up on doing it and got plenty of lip about doing it myself and how the dealer would have done it for nothing under TSB, etc. etc. My friend, you are proof positive that if you can do it yourself (even if it costs a few $$), that no one but yourself will take as much care to do the job right. Don't just think it is that one dealer. They are the same everywhere and you never know what is going to happen once you hand over the keys. The dealer is probably one of those 5-Star 'jokes' too.
It's a shame there isn't much you can do in the way of recourse for their incompetence. Good luck on the additional repairs required to fix your cupholder.

Some will say what happens if you have a bad transmission or other major warranty issue - knock on wood but that rarely happens -the majority of issues are better kept far away from a dealer.
It's just amazing the number of dealerships that don't realize that the sales department on sells a customer their first car. The service department sells the customer the rest.
Try Buerge (Ber-ghee) In West Los Angeles on Santa Monica Blvd. Talk to Manny Salinas.
I've had good luck there. Tell them Laura with the Black SRT sent you (yes I'm on first name basis now from my limited I HAD).
The guys in service asked if my visit there was pleasant & up to par & that when I get a survey form in the mail asking about my most recent service visit... If I could give them a good review. They explained that the surveys are a big part in keeping their 5 Star status.
Try explaining your frustrations & bad luck at your last 5* & maybe they'll treat your car with kid gloves because they know you'll take your business elsewhere.

Perhaps the 5 star designation is accurate. 5 out of 10 stars, that is. Chrysler's dirty little secret... LOL
