Thanks for the welcome. I know the T-56 transmission can handle the power, so its more of a fitment issue. They're also readily available.

Welcome to the forum...as you research more about this vehicle you will see that M.B. engines and trannies are in these car. All of their high-hp AMG models use auto-sticks...while maybe not as fun as shifting the gears yourself, it's the hand that the owners are dealt. Auto's or not...car's like the E55, SL55, 65, and SLR seem to hold their own against other cars, both stick and auto models alike, in each of there respective vehicle categories...

While an interesting concept on what the end results will truly turn out to be...I have a feeling this is idea is going to turn into another "dreamer's mod"...

So I joined this forum because I am thinking of getting an SRT. Like many out there I am fed up with many decisions GM has been making lately. However, I also strongly prefer a manual over an auto. I joined simply to figure out if this would be possible. It seems that the moral of Chrysler owners is even more negative then GM has become. This is the decision factor for me. Can the 6 speed be done in the SRT. Among other countless reasons having a manual keeps my friends from taking my cars for a drive. If anyone has anything positive to contribute in regards to this process, let me know. If not, don't bother. I do not need to hear about what you think can be done.

The positive is to search the forum...it's been talked about a hundred times. No one so far has done the conversion so every post will be a "think it can/can not be done" sort of thing...

There is no "plug-and-play" manny transmission that will work on the SRT so if you have the time, money and desire to find a donor and put one in...knock your self out.

The whole concept seems a bit crazy to me... It would probably be easier and cheaper to do it the other way around. Drop a SRT6 motor into the Limited. Everything will line-up and you won't have to manufacture a clutch pedal into the car... Good luck...
Slightly off the main topic, but do you think that such a thing could be done for less than the price difference between the SRT/Limited? Of course, that would be the sticker prices, not the crazy low prices things are getting to now.

I bet it could. Just find a donor SC 3.2 from an wrecked SRT/C32/SLK32...what would be better is to stick some goodies on it (Kleemann SC/headers/pulleys etc) before installing it and you would have quite the grocery getter.
