Default Wearing Leather

My crossfire only has 6,000 miles I am already seeing some wear on the side of the driver's seat. I am a bigger guy (6'0" 220) and I can only see this getting worse. Anyway to protect that or at least delay the wearing?

Damn!!!
I thought we were getting all kinky with this thread!!!

Furry seat covers will extend the seat life - but I assume that's a no no!

Consistent use of Lexol pH-Cleaner and Lexol Conditioner will soften the leather and protect it.

I have the two tone seats and I do notice a bit of distress on the side where I slide in and out of the car. I try to be careful if I'm wearing slacks or pants that could scratch the leather...jeans with brass brads, pocket details, and I use the buttons to move the seat to the far back position. (I'm sure you're is always at that setting). I almost turn sideways to enter the car, so my weight is not on the side panels but in the middle of the seat. Yet, I do agree, leather care products are a must.

There was a similar question posed some months ago. The consensus at that time was a cell phone was rubbing the side bolster.

I have noticed just that with my work buddy going to lunch with me. He has one of those big Winders/stylus/whatever phones. The phone and especially the antenna tend to mark the seat. I deal with that since he's not in the car often. I try to be very careful with my phone keeping it up front while I drive.

Also my pocketknife is worrisome. It has a pocket clip. I have had to start carrying it in my left pocket. In my right - it scuffs the steering wheel if I happen to get too close exiting. I have yet to find a solution to the scuffed leather. Lexol has helped. At least it's on the bottom of the wheel.

My leather looks like new...seriously! 37,500 miles on it and the seats look pretty good...only slight wear on the side bolsters on the cedar/slate gray seats. You should clean and condition your leather at least twice a year. Golfergal, be careful as jeans can easily discolor a creamed-color leather.

Product suggestions include:

- Sonus Leather cleaner then Sonus Leather conditioner (my favorite so far).

- BMW leather cleaner/conditioner (one-step product that I used...works good, does not leave leather as grippe as the Sonus stuff, but has an incredibly leathery smell).

- Lexol stuff...some say it's ok.

- Zaino Z9 or Z10 I hear is very good stuff as well.

I suggest both of their leather products.

AB - Have you compared Lexol to the griots garage leather conditioner? Just wondering if the Griots is better. Thanks.
