Porter Cable 7424?
Just picked up a Porter Cable 7424, and waiting on pads from Adams, any suggestions on using it?
I have 4 black cars i'm hitting first, then 2 red and 1 white.
What do you guys suggest for swirls?

GREAT INVESTMENT...follow the instructions or go here for great advice/tips http://www.autogeek.net/dual-action-polisher.html, the only damage you can do is if you drop it on the car.
I've used Adam's Swirl & Haze Remover, followed by Revive Polish, and then their Buttery Wax. I have been very pleased with the results, but they now have the Fine Machine Polish and Machine Super Wax. These products are suppose to be even better, and were formulated especially to be applied with an orbital polisher. Of course they recommend the PC-7424, which I couldn't agree more. I plan on buying the new products as well.
Good luck.

I'm just starting to use mine too. I used a 3M product for my swirls, specially formulated for dark cars. used it on my wife's 04 C240 and it really does a nice job. Just make sure you start it and stop it on the car or you and everything else within about 15 feet will be wearing what your using! I learned that the hard way.

Liquid ebony if it hasn't been suggested yet. 3M also makes a similar swirl remover.
Since I'm going to show N shines now I picked up the 18 volt 6" Ryobi orbital from their 1-Plus line of 18 volt tools...inexpensive ($29.95 at HD) and wonderful to use...like someone said you can only damage the paint if you drop it on the car, LOL! We wouldn't do that would we? For heavier work Ryobi also has a two speed 18 volt grinder ($39.99) which I outfitted with a foam buffing head...be careful though it can burn if you aren't careful.
Good luck, sounds like you have a years worth of vehicles to do!

Thanks to all for your compliments. The XMT products are a bit harder to use, but give great results and are worth the extra effort if you have the time.

One other thing... while it is improbable that you could damage your paint using the PC 7424 (remember to always keep the PC 7424 moving), start by polishing/cleaning/buffing a small and unnoticeable area first, and when you get the feel for the PC 7424 then migrate to the more noticeable areas.
Have fun!

Personally though, I don't think the PC can damage paint that easily. It's the rotary that you have to worry about, especially at over 1,000 rpm's. I can run a PC along multiple surfaces without worries, while the rotary can destroy black trim (don't ask how I know).
As for product sling mentioned earlier, spread the product along the surface, as if buttering a piece of bread, with the machine turned OFF before turning the machine on. Do a quick pass or two at a speed of 1-2, then crank it to 6 for swirl removal (don't be afraid of speed 6). I believe I talk about polishing with the PC in my "How to Detail a Crossfire" sticky thread.
